Final reminder for OP: after you file online, check your account regularly for any messages or requests for additional information. Responding quickly to any ESD requests will keep your claim moving forward smoothly.
Update us when you get it sorted out! I'm curious how the process goes since I might need to do the same thing soon.
Or use Claimyr to skip the wait! Just saying. Sometimes the small fee is worth the time savings.
One more thing - make sure you understand what happens to your benefit year if you withdraw. I think it might affect when you can file again in the future.
The key thing is consistency. File every Sunday, expect money every Wednesday (or Thursday depending on your bank). Don't overthink it and definitely don't file late in the week unless you want delays.
Just wanted to add that if your payment seems delayed, check your Washington ESD account online first before panicking. Sometimes there are issues with your weekly claim that need to be resolved before payment can be sent.
And if you can't figure out the issue from your online account, that's when services like Claimyr really come in handy for getting quick answers from Washington ESD.
One last thought - if your back injury is work-related, you might also want to look into workers' compensation. That could be another source of income while you're waiting for disability to process.
Thanks everyone for all the advice. I think I'm going to try to get through to Washington ESD first to ask about putting my claim on standby, then talk to a disability lawyer about the SSDI application. I'll also look into the workers' comp angle. This is way more complicated than I thought it would be.

Also remember that if your claim gets complicated or you need to talk to someone at Washington ESD about specific issues, services like Claimyr can save you hours of frustration trying to get through on the phone. I wish I had known about it sooner!

•I'll keep that in mind if I run into any problems. Hopefully everything goes smoothly!

The main thing is don't panic if something seems confusing. The Washington ESD staff can help explain things if you can reach them, and there are lots of resources online. You've got this!

•Thank you so much everyone! This thread has been more helpful than any official guide I found.
