That range sounds reasonable based on what everyone's shared. Thanks for all the helpful info everyone! Definitely makes me feel more confident about filing my claim.
Fun fact: Washington was actually one of the first states to implement its unemployment insurance program after the Social Security Act passed. We started collecting taxes in 1937 and paying benefits in 1938, which was pretty quick compared to some other states.
Your project should definitely mention Title IX of the Social Security Act too - that's the specific section that created the unemployment insurance program. Title II was for retirement benefits, Title IX was for unemployment insurance.
Perfect! I was looking for those specific section numbers. This has been incredibly helpful - I had no idea there were so many people knowledgeable about unemployment history on here.
Just wanted to add - make sure you keep all your unemployment paperwork organized for tax time. Weekly claim confirmations, payment records, etc. Makes filing much easier.
If you're still unsure about your eligibility, you can always file an application and let Washington ESD determine if you qualify. They'll look at your actual wage records and let you know. There's no penalty for applying even if you don't end up qualifying.
Just want to add that if you have trouble reaching Washington ESD to ask about your specific situation, I had good luck with that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier. Got connected to an ESD agent in like 15 minutes instead of spending hours trying to call.

Final thought - when I talked to the ESD agent through Claimyr, they mentioned that some counties have better partnerships with employers for job placement programs. Might be worth asking about that too when you call.

•Yeah, WorkSource offices vary a lot in what they offer. Some have way better connections with local employers.

Thanks everyone for all the advice! I'm going to research King and Snohomish counties more, look into the employment projections data, and definitely try Claimyr to talk to an ESD agent about my specific situation. This has been super helpful.
