This thread has been really helpful. I'm in a similar situation and was just as confused about where to start.
Make sure your employer doesn't try to fight your claim. Most legitimate layoffs won't have issues, but some companies try to claim it was performance-related or something to avoid higher UI taxes. If that happens you might need to appeal.
One more thing - sign up for direct deposit when you file your claim! Paper checks take forever and can get lost. Direct deposit is much faster and more reliable.
Bottom line - being fired doesn't automatically disqualify you from unemployment benefits in Washington. The key factors are whether it was for misconduct and whether you meet the other eligibility requirements. File your claim and let Washington ESD make the determination.
I had to use Claimyr when my benefits got held up in adjudication and I couldn't reach anyone at Washington ESD for weeks. The agent they connected me with was super helpful and got my issue resolved quickly. Sometimes you just need to talk to an actual person instead of dealing with the automated system.
One more thing - make sure your address is up to date with Washington ESD because they mail important notices including your monetary determination. If you miss those notices it can cause delays in your benefits.

For anyone still having trouble reaching Washington ESD about fired/termination questions - Claimyr really is a lifesaver. Used it again this week to clarify some stuff about my friend's misconduct case. The service connects you directly with Washington ESD agents instead of fighting the phone system. Worth every penny when you need real answers.

•I'm definitely going to try that service. Been trying to call Washington ESD for two weeks about my adjudication status with zero success.

•Same here - the busy signals are driving me crazy. Going to check out that video demo and see if it's worth it.

Final thought - remember that Washington ESD's job is to determine eligibility based on the law, not to punish people who lost their jobs. If you were fired for reasons beyond your control or that don't rise to the level of misconduct, you have a legitimate claim to benefits. Don't let employer intimidation stop you from filing.

•Good luck! Remember to keep detailed records of everything and don't give up if you hit obstacles. The system can be frustrating but it does work when you persist.
