just wanted to add that the whole process can take a while if there's a classification dispute. don't expect quick answers but definitely worth pursuing if you think you were misclassified
One more tip - when you file, make sure to mention specifically that you believe you were misclassified as a contractor. Don't just say you were a contractor and hope they figure it out. Be clear about your position.
And if you need to discuss this with someone at ESD, definitely consider using that Claimyr service. Complex classification issues really benefit from talking to an actual person who understands the nuances.
honestly the hardest part for me was just getting through to someone who could explain everything clearly. Spent so many hours on hold before I found Claimyr to help with the phone calls.
One last thing - if you're denied for any reason, you have the right to appeal. Don't just accept a denial without understanding why and whether it's worth fighting.
Just remember after you file you'll need to do your weekly claims every week and keep up with the job search requirements. Don't let those slide or you'll have more problems.
Just remember to keep your job search logs even after you close the claim. Washington ESD can audit claims up to 5 years later and they'll want to see that documentation.

One more thing - make sure you keep documenting your job search activities even after benefits end. If you do qualify for a new claim later, you'll need to show you've been actively looking for work during any gap periods.

•Good point. I've been keeping a spreadsheet of applications but wasn't sure if I needed to continue that after benefits end.

•Better to keep doing it just in case. It's also helpful for your own tracking to see what approaches are working and which aren't.

Thanks everyone for all the advice. This has been really helpful even though the situation sucks. I'm going to start applying for assistance programs and look into some of the temporary work options while I keep searching for something permanent.

•Hope things work out for you. Don't forget about trying to get through to Washington ESD if you need clarification on anything - that's what they're there for.
