Thanks everyone for all the helpful responses! Sounds like I just need to be patient since I reported earnings. I'll give it another week and if it's still pending, I'll look into that Claimyr service to get some official answers from Washington ESD.
I keep seeing people mention Claimyr - is it legit? I'm always skeptical of services that charge you to deal with government agencies.
Bottom line: if you're taking maternity leave, apply for PFML not unemployment. If you're laid off while pregnant but still able to work, apply for unemployment. If you're not sure which applies to your situation, talk to someone at Washington ESD who can review your specific case.
Community volunteering often increases during high unemployment periods. People have time and want to feel useful. It's one positive side effect, though obviously not worth the overall pain.
thanks everyone for the insights. really helps to understand the bigger picture of what's happening. gonna check out some of these resources mentioned and maybe try that claimyr thing if i can't get through to washington esd this week
For the most comprehensive data, I'd recommend checking both the weekly claims report and the monthly Labor Area Summary. The weekly data gives you the immediate pulse, while the monthly report provides more detailed breakdowns and context.
One last thing - if you're doing analysis, remember that the data can be volatile week to week due to holidays, weather, or other factors. Looking at 4-week moving averages gives a better trend picture.

If anyone needs help getting through to Washington ESD customer service, I second the Claimyr recommendation. Used it last week when I had a question about my claim status and it saved so much time. Check out claimyr.com if you're tired of busy signals.

•Seems like a lot of people have had success with that service. Good to know there's an option.

•Same here, used Claimyr twice now and both times got connected within 30 minutes. Way better than the 3+ hour waits I was dealing with before.
