Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

Yeah I can see how that would add pressure. Trying to stay positive and use the time productively for job searching.
Make sure you understand the difference between your benefit year and your 26 weeks of eligibility. The benefit year is 52 weeks from when you filed, but you only get up to 26 weeks of actual payments within that year.
That's a good distinction to understand. So even if I find work and get laid off again within my benefit year, I can't file a new claim?
Correct, you'd have to wait until your current benefit year expires to file a new claim with new wages.

Try using a different device too. Sometimes the website works better on a phone vs computer or vice versa. The mobile version is actually pretty good now.
I'll try that! I was only using my laptop so maybe my phone will work better.
If all else fails, contact your state representative's office. They have people who can help navigate Washington ESD issues and sometimes get faster responses than regular claimants.
I had no idea state reps could help with this stuff. That's really good to know as a last resort.
Yeah they have constituent services for exactly these kinds of bureaucratic problems.

One practical tip - set up Google alerts for job postings in your field. That way new positions come to you instead of you having to constantly search job boards. Makes it easier to stay on top of opportunities.
That's brilliant! I never thought of using Google alerts for job searching.
You can also set up alerts for company names you're interested in. Sometimes they'll announce new positions on their websites before posting to job boards.
Don't underestimate the importance of taking care of your mental health during this process. Job searching while unemployed is incredibly stressful. Make sure you're doing things that keep you positive and motivated.
Exercise helped me a lot. Even just walking every day made me feel more energetic and confident.
And don't isolate yourself. The loneliness of unemployment can be crushing. Stay connected with people even if you feel embarrassed about your situation.

Has anyone had issues with overpayments? I'm worried about making a mistake on my weekly claims and having to pay money back later.
Thanks, I'll make sure to be extra careful with my reporting. The overpayment stories I've heard are scary.
The key is keeping good records and being truthful. Washington ESD has access to wage databases so they'll catch unreported income eventually anyway.
Another thing - your benefit year lasts 52 weeks from when you first filed, but you can only collect up to 26 weeks of benefits during that year. So if you find work and stop collecting, you can't come back later in the same benefit year and collect more unless you have special circumstances.
Well, you have to stop filing if you're working full-time. But you can restart benefits if you become unemployed again within the same benefit year, as long as you haven't used up all 26 weeks.
The benefit year vs benefit weeks thing confuses a lot of people. It's worth understanding though since it affects your options.

One more thing - if you receive any overpayment notices down the road, don't ignore them even if you think they're wrong. You can appeal overpayments but you need to act fast.
