This thread should be pinned! So many people get confused about the weekly vs monthly thing when they first start filing.
Just want to mention one more time for anyone reading this later - if you need to reach Washington ESD and can't get through by phone, check out Claimyr. Really helped me when I was stuck in the system. The demo video at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ explains it better than I can.
If you're still having trouble understanding the Washington ESD system or need to speak with someone about your specific situation, I'd suggest trying Claimyr again. I know it's been mentioned but honestly it's the most reliable way I've found to actually talk to a human at Washington ESD when you have questions.
I think I'm going to give that a try. I still have so many questions about how all this works and the website isn't very clear.
Bottom line - unemployment insurance is important because it recognizes that job loss is often beyond individual control and provides a civilized response to economic disruption. It's not charity, it's insurance that we all pay into and deserve to use when we need it. Don't feel guilty about claiming benefits you've earned.
Thank you for saying that. I have been feeling a bit guilty about claiming benefits, but you're right that I paid into this system.
For anyone still having trouble getting through - I tried calling at 3:30pm yesterday and actually got through in about 20 minutes. Late afternoon might be better than morning rush.
The fact that we're all sharing strategies to get through to a government office that's supposed to help us is pretty sad. The system needs major improvement.
Couldn't agree more. We shouldn't need third-party services just to talk to someone about our unemployment claims.
True, but until they fix the system, at least there are workarounds available. Claimyr definitely saved me a lot of frustration.

Does anyone know if the partial benefit calculation changes if you have multiple part-time jobs? I'm thinking about picking up a second gig on weekends.

•Thanks! So if I made $360 from job 1 and $200 from job 2, they'd subtract 25% of $560 total, not calculate each job separately.

•Exactly right. Just make sure to report earnings from both jobs when you file your weekly claim.

This thread has been super helpful! I was so confused about partial benefits but now I understand how it works. Going to keep filing my weekly claims and see how it goes with my new part-time schedule.
