I'm in the same situation but I'm worried I made an error on my tax return. Is there a way to check if the IRS received my return and is processing it correctly?
For anyone still waiting - I finally got my unemployment tax refund after 6 months. The key was making sure all my Washington ESD 1099-G information matched exactly what I reported on my tax return. Even small discrepancies can cause delays.
Log into your Washington ESD account online and you can download a copy of your 1099-G. Compare the total unemployment benefits and taxes withheld to what you reported on your tax return.
If you're having trouble accessing your Washington ESD account, there's a service called Claimyr that can help you get through to a representative. Check out their demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ to see how it works.
Last thought - once you file, make sure you understand the job search requirements. Washington ESD requires you to actively look for work and document it. Don't let yourself get disqualified after finally getting your claim approved.
Glad this thread helped you get your claim filed OP. For anyone else in a similar situation - there's really no excuse not to file immediately in 2025. The online system works, it's fast, and every day you wait costs you money. Just do it.
The real key is making sure you file your weekly claims consistently and meet all the job search requirements. Miss a week or mess up the requirements and you can lose benefits entirely.
whatever the amount ends up being, it'll probably be less than your take-home pay from working. unemployment is meant to be temporary assistance not full replacement income
Good luck with everything! The amount should be decent based on what you described. Just be prepared for the bureaucracy and keep all your paperwork organized.
Thanks everyone! This thread has been really helpful. I feel much more prepared now if I need to file.
And remember, if you run into issues getting through to Washington ESD, services like Claimyr can really save you time and frustration. Worth knowing about before you need it.

One more thing about Claimyr - they're especially helpful if you need to discuss employer wage or tax issues with Washington ESD. Much faster than the regular phone lines when you have specific questions about your claim.

•I used them last month for a similar issue. The agent was able to look up my employer's wage reports and verify everything was filed correctly.

Hope this helps clear things up OP. Your employer pays all unemployment taxes, you don't pay any, and it doesn't affect your Washington ESD benefits at all. Don't let them make you feel guilty for using benefits you've earned.
