Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through. Also, keep hitting 0 or # repeatedly - sometimes that'll bump you to a real person.
I totally get your frustration! I went through the same thing a few months back. What finally worked for me was calling around 2 PM on Wednesdays - seems like a weird time but I think it's when they have more staff available after lunch breaks. Also, make sure you have your Social Security number, last employer info, and exact dates of employment ready before you call. The reps move fast once you get through and they'll hang up if you take too long to find your paperwork. Don't lose hope - it took me 3 weeks but I eventually got everything sorted out!
Quick update for anyone reading this thread in the future: As of January 2025, TWC has made some improvements to the Tele-Serv system. It now explicitly states "Your payment request has been successfully processed" at the end of a successful call, rather than just saying to contact TWC. This should help reduce confusion for claimants like the original poster who switch between the website and phone system.
I'm glad you got this sorted out! Reading through everyone's responses, it's clear that the "too early to request payment" message is actually confirmation that your Tele-Serv request worked. I've been using both the website and Tele-Serv interchangeably for months without any issues - they're both connected to the same system, so switching between them doesn't cause problems. One tip for future reference: if you ever want to double-check that your payment request went through, you can call the Tele-Serv number again and just listen to your claim status without submitting a new request. It'll tell you when your last payment request was processed. The website's payment history section is also really helpful for tracking this stuff!
This is such helpful advice! I had no idea you could call Tele-Serv just to check your status without submitting a new request. That would have saved me so much stress yesterday. I'll definitely use that feature in the future if I'm ever unsure again. Thanks for taking the time to explain everything so clearly!
UPDATE: I finally got through to TWC this morning after using that Claimyr service someone recommended! The agent confirmed my interview is scheduled for next Wednesday at 1:30pm. Apparently they sent the notice last week but to my old address even though I updated it online when I filed. The agent updated my address again and said I should receive a determination within 7-10 days after the interview. She also explained that my former employer is claiming I walked off the job after an argument with my supervisor, which is completely false. I was told to leave after I questioned a new policy that violated our employee handbook. I have documentation and witness statements ready for my interview. Thanks everyone for your advice and support! I'll update again after my interview next week.
That's great news! Make sure you're prepared for that interview - it's the most important part of resolving your claim. Have all your documentation ready including: 1. Dates of the incident 2. Names of any witnesses 3. Copies of any relevant emails/texts 4. Your employee handbook if it shows the policy in question 5. Timeline of events written out clearly Be calm, factual, and specific during the interview. Avoid emotional language or badmouthing your former employer. Just stick to the facts of what happened and why it constitutes a firing rather than quitting. Good luck!
Congratulations on finally getting through and getting your interview scheduled! That's a huge step forward. Just wanted to add that during your interview, make sure to emphasize that you were willing and able to continue working - that's a key factor TWC looks for in determining if it was truly a termination vs. voluntary quit. Also, if you have any text messages or emails from that day showing you were surprised by being let go, those can be really powerful evidence. The fact that your employer is now changing their story (from "quit" to "walked off after an argument") actually works in your favor because it shows inconsistency on their part. Stay strong - you're almost through this nightmare!
Thank you for the encouragement and those extra tips! I do have text messages from that day where I was asking my coworker what just happened because I was so shocked. You're absolutely right about their story changing - first they said I quit, now it's "walked off after an argument." I'll definitely emphasize that I wanted to keep working and was completely caught off guard by being terminated. Having all this support from everyone here has really helped me stay focused during this stressful time. I'll make sure to highlight the inconsistencies in their claims during the interview!
One thing to keep in mind is that the TWC representative has to follow a script and ask certain questions for legal reasons. Their demeanor shouldn't affect the outcome if your case is legitimate. For position elimination cases, the TWC is primarily checking: 1. That you were indeed laid off and didn't quit 2. That there was no misconduct involved 3. That you're available and actively searching for work Since you mentioned you have documentation confirming the elimination of your position, you're in a strong position. The determination is typically made within 7-10 business days after the fact-finding interview. If you haven't received a determination letter by then, you can check your claim status online or try contacting them again.

UPDATE: Thanks everyone for the help! I found the notice in my correspondence inbox that explained the transition to biweekly payments. It was sent weeks ago but I never saw it. Mystery solved! Just sharing in case someone else has the same confusion in the future.

•Glad you got it figured out! TWC really should send text alerts for important changes like this. Their email notifications are terrible.

This exact same thing happened to me about 3 weeks ago! I panicked when I saw the double payment thinking it was a mistake and they'd want it back. Then when nothing came the following week I was sure my claim was messed up. Turns out it's just the new biweekly system rollout. The double payment is intentional to get you caught up before switching you over. Your timing sounds right - they're still transitioning people in batches. Just make sure to update your budget since you'll now get paid every two weeks instead of weekly. The amount is the same overall, just different timing.
