This is such a relief to see! I've been waiting 6 weeks for my claim to get approved and posts like this give me hope. Quick question - when you say your account showed the benefit amount and taxes, was that visible right when it changed to approved status or did it take a few hours? I'm trying to figure out what signs to look for that things are actually moving forward. The PA UC system is so confusing!
Hey Riya! In my case, the benefit amount and tax calculations showed up within about 2-3 hours after the status changed to approved. It wasn't instant but it happened the same day. I think that's a really good sign that your claim is actually processing and not just sitting there! The benefit calculation showing up means they've done all the back-end work to figure out what you're owed. Hang in there - 6 weeks is awful but hopefully you'll see movement soon! The waiting is definitely the worst part.
Just wanted to chime in as someone who went through this exact situation a few months ago! My claim was approved after 9 weeks and I was checking my bank account obsessively too 😅 For me it took 3 business days with direct deposit and came as one lump sum payment. The weird thing is that my UC dashboard actually never updated to show "paid" - it still says "in progress" to this day even though I got all my money months ago! So definitely don't stress if the website status doesn't change. The most reliable indicator for me was checking the "payment history" section which updated about 6 hours before the actual deposit hit my account. Fingers crossed you see your money soon!
btw tell ur husband dont forget to do income taxes on unemployment money!!! they dont take enough out and we got hit with big tax bill last year!!
Just wanted to add my experience as someone who works seasonal construction too - the CareerLink registration is definitely required but once you're in the system with a documented return date, the process gets much smoother for future seasonal layoffs. I've been doing this cycle for 3 years now and they have all my info on file. Also, if your husband's return date gets pushed back (which happens a lot in construction due to weather), make sure to update CareerLink and UC immediately. They're pretty understanding about weather delays as long as you communicate. Good luck!
Update for anyone who finds this post in the future: My money finally showed up in my bank account today, so it took exactly 3 business days (Thursday to Tuesday). I was also able to call my landlord and explain the situation, and they agreed to waive the late fee as long as I pay by Wednesday. Lesson learned - I'll start transfers much earlier next time!

Pro tip for anyone else dealing with this - if you have a Wells Fargo account, their transfers from Money Network actually process faster than most other banks. I usually get mine in 2 business days instead of 3. Also, if you're really in a bind for rent money, some landlords will accept Zelle payments, and you can add your Money Network card as a debit card in Zelle for instant transfers (though there might be daily limits). Just another option to consider for future emergencies!

Here's what's actually happening with referee decisions: Each decision is reviewed by a supervisor before being sent out, which adds time. By law, they're supposed to issue decisions within 30 days, but they're granted extensions due to workload. A few tips: 1. Appeal decisions DO appear in your dashboard under "Determination History" once issued 2. If your hearing included multiple issues (like misconduct plus able/available), each requires a separate decision which can delay things 3. Complex cases take longer than simple ones 4. If you win, payment processing takes 2-3 additional business days after the decision appears If you're approaching 8 weeks, you can request a status update through your dashboard messaging center - use "Appeals Information" as the subject.

Update: Just spoke with someone at PA UC after calling for almost 2 hours. They confirmed payments will be delayed by one day because of New Year's. They also mentioned that if you have the Money Network card, sometimes the deposits can show up late evening on Wednesday instead of Thursday morning, but direct deposits to bank accounts will definitely be Thursday. Hope this helps anyone else wondering!

For what it's worth, I've found that setting up text alerts through the PA UC system helps me track when payments are processed, even during holiday delays. You can enable them in your dashboard under notifications. It won't speed up the payment, but at least you'll get confirmation when it's been sent to your bank/card. Also, if you're really strapped for cash, some local food banks and community organizations have emergency assistance programs specifically for people dealing with unemployment payment delays during holidays.
