My roommate had his payment date on a Thursday once but didn't get it until Monday because they don't process on weekends. So if your date is Friday it might be Tuesday before you see it.
Hey Dmitri! I totally understand your anxiety - I was in the exact same boat when I first started collecting. The good news is that since your payment shows 10/7 and today is 10/8, you should definitely see it hit your Money Network card tomorrow (10/9) morning. I've been collecting for about 6 months now and it's always been exactly 2 business days after the date shown in the portal. The system is actually pretty reliable once you understand the timing - just wish they'd explain it better upfront! Hang in there, your money is coming.
Update us when you hear back about your reconsideration request! It'll help other students in the same situation to know how it went.
I'm a social worker who helps clients navigate benefits appeals, and I wanted to add that you should also consider requesting an expedited review if you're experiencing food insecurity. PA has provisions for expediting SNAP reconsiderations when there's immediate hardship. When you call or visit your county office, specifically ask about expedited processing due to financial hardship - they can sometimes process these cases in 7-10 days instead of the full 30. Also, keep copies of everything you submit and get confirmation numbers. Document every phone call with dates and who you spoke with. This creates a paper trail that can be helpful if you need to escalate further. Good luck with your reconsideration!
This is really valuable advice about expedited processing! I didn't know that was even an option. Since I'm down to just $23 for food this month, I definitely qualify for the hardship exception. I'll call first thing Monday morning and specifically ask for expedited review due to food insecurity. Thank you for the tip about documenting everything too - I've been taking screenshots but hadn't thought about keeping a call log.
UPDATE: They actually came through! Just got my decision letter today - APPROVED!!! After 14+ months of waiting, they reversed the denial and I should be getting the back payments within 2 weeks. If you're still waiting, don't give up hope and definitely try calling that number. Now I just need to figure out how to deal with the credit card debt I racked up while waiting...
Congratulations Vanessa! This gives me so much hope. I've been waiting 11 months for my review board decision after being denied for "voluntary quit" when I actually left due to unsafe working conditions that my employer refused to address. I tried calling 717-787-5122 yesterday but got a busy signal - probably because of this post! I'll keep trying though. Did they end up paying any interest on the delayed payments or just the original amount you were owed?
Just the original amount unfortunately - no interest or penalties for the delay. But honestly I'm just relieved to finally get something! For the busy signal, try calling right when they open at 8 AM or around lunch time (12-1 PM). Those seemed to be the best times when I was trying. Also don't hang up if you get the busy signal right away - sometimes if you wait a minute it will connect you to their voicemail system where you can leave a callback request. Good luck with your unsafe working conditions case - that should definitely qualify for benefits!
This happened to me last month when I was trying to buy groceries! Card got declined at the register and I couldn't check my balance. So embarrassing! Had to put everything back and come home to find out the system was just down for maintenance. They really need to warn us before doing these updates. BTW has anyone had problems with the Money Network ATMs at Sheetz? Last two times I tried, they were out of cash!
This is exactly why I always keep a small amount of cash on me now after going through this nightmare multiple times! The Money Network outages are getting ridiculous - it's like they don't understand people depend on this money for basic necessities like rent and groceries. I've started taking screenshots of my balance when the system IS working so I at least know roughly how much I have during outages. Also pro tip - if you have a credit union nearby, some of them let you withdraw cash from your unemployment card without fees at their ATMs, which can be super helpful during these situations.

IMPORTANT FOR EVERYONE: Always take screenshots of your payments page showing the pay date!!!! I had a payment disappear from my portal once and they tried to tell me it never existed until I showed them the screenshot!!!!

•This is excellent advice. Documentation is key when dealing with any government system, especially unemployment. I recommend taking screenshots of everything and keeping a log of all phone calls (date, time, who you spoke with) as well.

So glad to see your update that the money finally came through! I'm dealing with a similar situation right now - my portal shows a pay date from last Tuesday but still nothing on my card. Reading through all these responses is really helpful, especially knowing about the extra fraud review for larger amounts. I had no idea that was a thing! Going to give it a few more days before I start panicking, but it's reassuring to know this seems pretty normal with the PA system. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences!
