If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

I'm dealing with the exact same frustration! Been trying to get through for over 2 weeks now. Reading through all these suggestions is really helpful - I had no idea about the CareerLink offices or the state rep option. Going to try calling at 7:59am tomorrow and if that doesn't work, I'll check out that Claimyr service. It's ridiculous that we have to jump through so many hoops just to get basic help with our claims, but at least there are some workarounds. Thanks to everyone sharing their experiences!

I feel your pain! I just went through this same nightmare last month. The 7:59am trick actually does work sometimes - I got through on my third try doing that. Also want to add that if you have a smartphone, you can set up an auto-redial app to keep calling while you do other things. Just make sure you're ready to answer when it connects! The CareerLink option is definitely worth trying too - mine was super helpful and actually spotted an issue in my claim that I never would have noticed. Hang in there, you'll get through eventually!

This whole thread is so helpful! I'm in week 4 of trying to reach someone about my claim that's been stuck in "under review" status. I've tried calling hundreds of times with no luck. Definitely going to try the 7:59am strategy and look into Claimyr since so many people here had success with it. Also didn't know about the CareerLink offices - there's one about 15 minutes from me so I'll check that out too. It's honestly crazy that we need all these workarounds just to get help with something as basic as unemployment benefits, but I'm grateful for this community sharing real solutions. Will update if I make any progress!

Week 4 is brutal! I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. One thing I'd add to all the great suggestions here - when you do get through (whether via Claimyr or the early morning calls), have ALL your information ready beforehand. Write down your SSN, PIN, employer info, dates of employment, etc. The agents can only stay on the line for so long and you don't want to waste time scrambling for documents. Also, if they tell you to upload something, ask them to specify exactly what file name/format they want - saves you from having to call back later. Good luck and definitely keep us posted on what works for you!

Since you mentioned having an open issue specifically, you should know that some open issues will resolve automatically after a certain time period if there's no employer protest. Usually 21 days. When did your issue first appear? If it's been less than 3 weeks, it might resolve itself soon without you needing to call. Also, double-check that you're calling the right number. The main claims line is 888-313-7284, but if you have a specific issue type there might be a more direct number.

If you're at 17 days and had a clean separation, there's a good chance it will resolve in the next week. Keep filing your weekly claims on time, and check your dashboard daily for updates. If you hit 25 days with no change, then I'd definitely try more aggressive contact methods.

@Sadie Benitez This is really helpful advice! I had no idea about the 21-day automatic resolution thing. Since I m'already at day 17 and had a clean separation, maybe I should focus on the email route that @Dominique Adams mentioned while waiting to see if it resolves automatically. At least that way I m being'proactive without spending money on calling services. Thanks for the insight about checking daily - I ve been'checking maybe every few days.

Have you tried contacting your state representative's office? I was stuck in a similar situation for almost a month and finally called my rep's constituent services office. They have a direct line to UC and can escalate cases. I got a call back from UC within 48 hours after my rep's office contacted them. It's free and they're actually really helpful with state agency issues like this. Just google "[your county] state representative" and call their local office - explain you've been trying to reach UC for weeks about rent money and they should be able to help.

@Andre Lefebvre This is brilliant advice! I never thought about contacting my state rep s'office. That s'such a smart way to escalate when you re'stuck in the system. I m'definitely going to try this along with the email route. Do you remember what info they needed from you when you contacted them? Like did you have to provide documentation of how long you d'been trying to call?

Did u have a lawyer for ur hearing? Just curious cause my hearing is next month and trying to decide if I need one

0 coins

No, I didn't use a lawyer. My case was pretty straightforward - I had documentation from my doctor about why I needed to quit my job. The referee was actually pretty fair and let me explain everything. If your case is complicated or your employer is fighting it hard, maybe a lawyer would help, but for me it wasn't necessary.

Great to hear you figured it out! For future reference, PA UC referee decisions always have this structure: they'll state whether the original determination is "AFFIRMED" (you lost), "REVERSED" (you won), or "MODIFIED" (partially changed). When it says "not disqualified under Section 402(b)" that's definitely a win for voluntary quit cases. The legal language is confusing but that's the key phrase to look for. Make sure to keep filing those weekly claims - even if the system shows $0 for a few weeks, once it updates you should get backpay for all the weeks you filed. Congrats on winning your appeal!

This is really helpful breakdown! I'm new to this community and just went through my first UC appeal process. The terminology is so confusing - wish they would just say "you won" or "you lost" instead of all this legal jargon about affirmed/reversed/modified. Good to know about the backpay too, I was wondering if I'd get paid for the weeks I was waiting for the decision. Thanks for explaining it so clearly!

I'm actually going through something very similar right now! I was terminated from my job after giving my two weeks notice (they basically said "don't bother working the notice period, you're done now"), and then I had a brief job that ended due to transportation issues. The PA UC system is making me file a new claim too, which I was initially confused about. From reading all these responses, it sounds like this is totally normal when you've had any employment after your main separation, even if it was super brief. What I'm planning to do is file the new claim and be really specific about both separations - making it clear that my main employer TERMINATED me after I gave notice (I didn't just quit), and that the brief job ended due to circumstances I couldn't control. It's actually kind of comforting to see so many people have dealt with this exact situation. The system seems confusing but it sounds like as long as you document everything clearly and emphasize the right details, it usually works out. I'm going to gather all my documentation before I file and make sure I have everything organized. Thanks to everyone sharing their experiences - it really helps to know what to expect!

Your situation sounds almost identical to mine! I'm really glad I found this thread because I was starting to think I was the only one dealing with this confusing process. The fact that so many people have gone through the same thing with multiple recent separations gives me confidence that the system can handle these complex situations, even if it doesn't seem intuitive at first. I'm going to follow everyone's advice here about being very specific with the language - emphasizing that I was TERMINATED after giving notice rather than saying I quit, and documenting all the childcare issues that made the PRN job impossible. It sounds like the key is really in how you present the facts to make it clear that neither separation was voluntary on your part.

Reading through all these responses really helps clarify the situation! I went through something similar about 6 months ago - was let go after giving notice at my main job, then had a very brief position that didn't work out. The PA UC system absolutely will force you to file a new claim when there's been any employment after your original separation, even if it was just for a couple weeks. The most important thing is how you describe each separation. For your main job, make it crystal clear that YOU were terminated AFTER submitting notice - you were willing and able to work your notice period but they chose to end your employment immediately. That's definitely not misconduct on your part. For the PRN position, childcare issues that couldn't be resolved can qualify as "necessitous and compelling" reasons for leaving under PA law, especially if you can document that it was an unexpected situation. Don't let the system's requirement for a new claim discourage you. Your benefit calculation will still be based on your wages during the base period, which should include your longer-term employment. Just make sure to file your weekly certifications even while waiting for a determination, and keep all your documentation organized in case they need additional information. The process might take a few weeks but you should definitely qualify for benefits given your circumstances.

Update: I called this morning and finally got someone helpful! Turns out there WAS an open issue on my claim - something called a "CWQ verification hold" that nobody had mentioned before. The agent created an expedited interstate review and said I should see movement within 7-10 days. She also gave me her direct extension to follow up next week if nothing changes. Thank you all for your advice - especially about asking for the right things using their terminology. Will update again when (hopefully) I get paid!

0 coins

That's great news! A CWQ verification hold is exactly what happened in my case too. Once they process the expedited review, you should see all your back payments get released at once. The fact that you got someone's direct extension is HUGE - that rarely happens. Definitely call that extension if you don't see movement in a week.

0 coins

This is exactly what happened to me with my PA/Maryland interstate claim! After 6 weeks of no payments, I discovered I had the same CWQ verification hold that nobody had told me about. The key is really getting to someone who knows the interstate system - most of the general agents have no clue about these specific holds. One tip that helped me: when you call back to follow up, mention the ticket number or case ID they gave you for the expedited review. That way the next agent can actually see what was done instead of starting from scratch. Also, keep a screenshot of your claim portal showing the weeks you've filed - sometimes the expedited process can cause display glitches that make it look like you missed weeks when you didn't. Really hope this gets resolved for you soon! The back payment when it finally comes through will definitely help with all those bills that have been piling up.
