Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

just want to add that you need to file weekly claims every week even after your initial application to keep getting benefits. lots of people forget this step and then wonder why their payments stopped

ugh the whole unemployment system is such a pain. took forever for my claim to get approved and then they randomly put me in adjudication for like 3 weeks with no explanation. just be prepared for potential delays and headaches with NYS Department of Labor
adjudication can happen for various reasons - usually they just need to verify information about your separation from work or your availability. it's frustrating but most claims do get resolved eventually

This reminds me of when my cousin worked at a store that kept her on just to stand around during slow seasons. She called it 'fake work' but hey, she got partial benefits for months while looking for something better. The disguised unemployment thing is more about economic theory - in practice, if you're getting paid for hours, report those hours. NYS Department of Labor has seen it all.

The whole system is so unnecessarily complicated! Like why do we need federal AND state taxes for unemployment? Just make it simple for crying out loud. No wonder people get confused about what affects what.

totally agree with the confusion! when i first filed i thought all unemployment money came from the federal government lol. had to learn the hard way that each state runs its own program
