Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

ugh this happened to my friend too... her company laid off like 20 people but then tried to say she was fired for attendance. she won though because she had all her time cards and stuff. the system is so messed up
One more important thing - make sure you continue filing your weekly claims while this is being disputed. Even if your benefits are temporarily stopped, you can still file and if you win the hearing, you'll get back pay for all the weeks you certified. Don't let this gap in filing hurt your claim.

The whole system is so confusing! I spent weeks trying to reach someone at NYS Department of Labor when I should have been dealing with workers comp instead. This reminds me of when I first filed last year - took me forever to figure out the system. I ended up calling my local workforce development office instead of the main NYS Department of Labor number. They actually helped me understand the job search requirements and even gave me tips on the weekly certification questions. Sometimes the local offices are less busy and more helpful than the main call center. Just thought I'd mention it since I spent weeks being frustrated before I found that out.

wait what happens if you get a part time job while on unemployment? do you lose everything or just get reduced benefits?? I might have an opportunity but scared to mess up my claim
You can work part-time and still collect benefits! You just need to report your earnings on your weekly claim. They'll reduce your benefit amount based on how much you earned, but you won't lose everything unless you earn over a certain threshold.

Just went through this nightmare myself. If you need to actually talk to someone at the IRS about FUTA payments, good luck getting through on the phone. I spent hours on hold. •No, they're completely different. FUTA (federal unemployment tax) is paid only by employers and funds the federal unemployment system. Social Security and Medicare taxes are split between employer and employee. Unemployment taxes (both federal and state) are 100% employer responsibility.
