my brother works in the ny unemployment office (not IT but adjacent) and he says they're well aware of the work search form issues. internal memo went out months ago but fixing it is "not priority" because it doesn't affect their metrics 🙄 classic government efficiency at work
Just went through this nightmare myself last month! The form glitch cost me 3 weeks of benefits because they said I wasn't meeting work search requirements. What finally worked for me was doing exactly what @Natasha Kuznetsova suggested - fill everything EXCEPT company name/website, save, then go back and edit to add those fields. Also learned the hard way to always log your activities in multiple places. I keep a Google Sheet backup now with timestamps and screenshots. The system is clearly broken but at least there are workarounds. Thanks everyone for sharing your solutions - this thread should be pinned for other people dealing with this mess!
Just wanted to add another data point - I've been having this exact same issue for the past 3 weeks! I was using Safari on my Mac and it was driving me absolutely nuts. After reading through all these suggestions, I switched to Chrome and tried entering my work search activities around 6:30 AM this morning. Everything saved perfectly! I also started keeping a backup Excel sheet with all my job application details, dates, and contact info just in case. It's so reassuring to know I'm not the only one dealing with this and that there are actual solutions. The early morning + different browser combo seems to be the key. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and workarounds - this community is amazing! 👍
Thanks for sharing your experience, Yuki! It's really helpful to hear that Chrome worked well for you too - seems like any browser other than Firefox is a good bet. The backup Excel sheet is such a smart idea! I'm definitely going to start doing that as well. It's crazy how we've all become tech support experts for NY's unemployment system, but at least we're helping each other figure it out. Has anyone tried using the mobile app instead of the website? I'm curious if it has the same saving issues or if it might be another workaround option.
I've been struggling with this exact same issue for about 2 weeks now! It's so frustrating when you spend time filling everything out and then half the fields just disappear. I was starting to think my computer was broken or something. Reading through all these suggestions has been incredibly helpful - I had no idea it could be a browser issue. I've been using Firefox this whole time, so I'm definitely going to try switching to Edge or Chrome tomorrow morning. The early morning timing tip makes a lot of sense too since that's probably when fewer people are using the system. I'm also going to start taking screenshots before I hit save, just in case. Has anyone had luck contacting NYSDOL directly about recovering missing entries, or is it better to just re-enter everything using these workarounds?
Just wanted to chime in as someone who's been through this nightmare before. The NY unemployment system is absolutely broken and it's infuriating how they put all the burden on us to figure out what's wrong. I had payments stuck for 6 weeks last year because of some mysterious "fraud prevention" flag that I was never notified about. The worst part is how helpless you feel when you can't reach anyone and your bills are piling up. Really glad to see Miguel got his resolved - that gives me hope that there are still real people working there who can actually fix things when you can reach them. For anyone else dealing with this, document everything (screenshots, call logs, etc.) and don't give up. The system is designed to wear you down but persistence does eventually pay off.
Thanks for sharing your experience, Jamal. It's reassuring to hear from someone who's been through the same thing. The fact that you had a "fraud prevention" flag with no notification is exactly what I'm worried about - how many people are dealing with these invisible issues right now? I'm definitely going to start documenting everything like you suggested. It's crazy that we have to become our own case managers just to get benefits we're entitled to, but I guess that's the reality of dealing with this system.
This is such a helpful thread - I'm dealing with almost the exact same situation right now! Filed in early June, first few payments came through fine, but now I've been stuck on pending for 2 weeks with zero communication from NYSDOL. It's so frustrating how the burden is completely on us to figure out what's wrong when they have all our contact information. Reading about Miguel's identity verification flag that never triggered a notification is both relieving (there might be a fixable issue) and infuriating (how are we supposed to know?). Definitely going to try the Claimyr service - at this point $20 to actually talk to a human seems like a bargain compared to the stress of calling 50+ times. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, it really helps to know we're not alone in this mess!
The whole nonmon determination process is just another way for NYS Department of Labor to make things confusing and stressful. They send these vague letters that nobody understands then make you jump through hoops to get answers. Classic bureaucracy BS.
I went through something similar last month. The "able and available" determinations can be tricky - sometimes they flag you if there's any inconsistency in your weekly certifications or if something in your profile suggests limited availability. Since yours is unfavorable, definitely appeal it within the 30-day deadline like Grace mentioned. When you appeal, be very specific about your availability - include your work schedule preferences, transportation, childcare arrangements if applicable, and emphasize that you're seeking full-time work. Document everything and keep copies. The appeal process can take a while but it's worth fighting if you truly are available for work.

To update everyone on this thread: As of April 2025, NYSDOL processes payment batches on Tuesdays and Fridays. If your certification is processed after the Tuesday batch, you'll be in Friday's batch. Then your bank's processing time adds 1-3 business days depending on the financial institution. For the original poster, since you certified on Sunday and it's now Thursday, your payment was likely included in Tuesday's batch and should arrive by Friday or Monday at the latest, assuming no holds on your account.

•This is SO helpful! Thank you for explaining the batch processing schedule - that timeline makes sense with what I'm seeing. I'll check tomorrow and Monday before getting too concerned. Really appreciate everyone's help on this thread!

I went through this exact same process back in February 2025 and can relate to the stress! For me, it took exactly 6 business days from certification to seeing the money in my account. The key thing that helped my anxiety was setting up text alerts through my bank so I'd know the moment the deposit hit instead of constantly checking my balance. Also, once you get that first payment, the weekly ones come much faster - usually 2-3 days max. Hang in there, it's coming!

•That's a great tip about setting up bank text alerts! I never thought of that but it would definitely help with the constant checking. It's really reassuring to hear from so many people who've been through this exact situation. The waiting is nerve-wracking but sounds like it's totally normal for the first payment to take this long.
