If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

I just went through this exact same situation a few weeks ago! One thing that really helped me was checking if there's a "Summary" or "Account Overview" section in your my.ny.gov portal - sometimes it shows your last payment date right on the main dashboard without having to dig through all the payment history details. Also, if you received direct deposit, the payment date in your NYS account should match pretty closely to when it actually showed up in your bank account (usually 1-2 business days later). For tax purposes, definitely use the "Date Paid" field as others mentioned - that's the date the IRS cares about, not when you certified for that particular week.

That's a great point about checking the dashboard first! I totally overlooked that - spent way too much time digging through the detailed payment history when the summary probably had what I needed right up front. The tip about matching it to your bank deposit is really smart too for double-checking you have the right date. Thanks for sharing your experience, this thread has been super helpful for understanding all the different ways to track down that final payment date!

Just wanted to add my experience since I went through this headache too! If the my.ny.gov site is acting up (which it does A LOT), you can also try accessing your unemployment info through the mobile app - sometimes it loads better than the desktop version. Also, pro tip: if you need this info quickly for tax deadlines, your tax preparer might be able to help you interpret the payment history if you can at least get to that section. Mine helped me figure out which of all those confusing dates was actually the right one to use. And definitely keep a screenshot or download of whatever you find - the NYS system has a habit of going down right when you need it most!

I'm new to this whole unemployment process and feeling pretty overwhelmed reading through all these details! One thing that's helping me is breaking it down into smaller steps. I made a simple checklist for my weekly claims: 1) Update my job search log before filing, 2) Double-check any earnings from the week (even small amounts), 3) Read each question twice before answering, and 4) Take screenshots before submitting like @Natasha mentioned. It's making the whole process feel less scary. Also just wanted to say thank you to everyone sharing their experiences - it's really reassuring to know others have figured this out and that making honest mistakes isn't the end of the world as long as you're upfront about everything with NYS Department of Labor.

Your checklist approach is brilliant! I wish I had thought of that when I started - it would have saved me so much anxiety. I especially like the idea of updating the job search log before filing because I kept forgetting details by the time I sat down to do my weekly claim. One thing I'd add to your list is setting a consistent day and time each week to file - I do mine every Tuesday afternoon which helps me stay in a routine and avoid the Sunday rush everyone talks about. It's really reassuring to see someone else breaking this down into manageable steps instead of getting overwhelmed by all the requirements!

I just wanted to add something that helped me when I was confused about the work search requirements - you can actually call your local One-Stop Career Center for guidance on what counts as valid job search activities. They helped me understand that things like updating your resume, taking online skills courses, or even informational interviews can count toward your 3 weekly activities. The staff there are really knowledgeable about NYS Department of Labor requirements and they're way easier to reach than the main unemployment line. For @Amina's original question about the weekly claim - the key thing that gave me confidence was realizing that the system is designed to support people who are genuinely looking for work, so as long as you're honest about your activities and earnings, you'll be fine. The $75 freelance work is actually a good sign that you're actively trying to get back on your feet, and reporting it correctly shows NYS Department of Labor that you're following the rules. Don't let the complexity scare you - thousands of people successfully file these claims every week!

This is such helpful advice about the One-Stop Career Centers! I had no idea they could help clarify what counts as job search activities. I've been stressing about whether some of my networking activities would qualify, but it sounds like they have much clearer guidance than trying to figure it out from the website alone. Do you happen to know if they can also help with questions about reporting different types of income? I do some gig work occasionally and want to make sure I'm categorizing it correctly when I report it on my weekly claims.

I went through this exact same situation about 4 months ago and can definitely confirm you can reapply right after your benefit year ends! The key is making sure you earned enough wages during your base period (typically the first 4 of the last 5 completed quarters). Here's what helped me get through the process smoothly: • Applied online on a Tuesday morning around 8 AM - much better system stability than afternoons • Had all my employment records organized: W-2s, pay stubs, exact employment dates, and employer contact info • Created a detailed job search log with company names, positions, application dates, and any follow-up activities • Made sure to answer unknown calls during business hours - they called me about 2 weeks after applying for a brief verification interview My processing time was about 3 weeks total, and my new weekly benefit amount ended up being pretty similar to my previous claim. The verification call was straightforward - they just wanted to confirm employment dates and asked about some of my recent job applications. One important tip: keep certifying weekly even while your new application is being processed. Don't let any weeks lapse or you might have to explain gaps later. The whole system is definitely frustrating and slow, but it does work if you stay on top of it. Hang in there and keep applying for jobs in the meantime. You've got this! šŸ’Ŗ

This is such comprehensive advice @StarSailor, thank you! I'm bookmarking this thread for when I apply next week. The Tuesday 8 AM timing seems to be the sweet spot based on multiple people's experiences. Quick question - when you mention keeping certifying weekly while the new application processes, do you continue using your old claim number or do they give you a new one right away? I want to make sure I don't accidentally mess something up during the transition period. Also really helpful to know the verification call was brief and straightforward - I was worried it would be some kind of intense interrogation! Appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with specific timelines and tips. šŸ™

I'm in a very similar situation - my benefit year just ended last month and I'm still searching for work. This entire thread has been incredibly helpful and honestly a huge relief! I was really worried I'd be left without any support, but it's clear from everyone's experiences that reapplying is definitely possible. I've been taking notes on all the great advice here: • Apply early in the week (Monday/Tuesday) around 7:30-8 AM • Have all employment records organized (W-2s, pay stubs, exact dates, employer info) • Keep detailed job search documentation with company names, dates, positions • Answer unknown calls during business hours for potential verification • Continue weekly certifications during processing The $2,600 minimum wage requirement in the highest quarter that @Sean O'Brien shared is really valuable info - I need to double-check my earnings to make sure I hit that threshold. Also good to know the processing typically takes 2-4 weeks. It's so reassuring to hear from people like @Amina Diop, @Jungleboo Soletrain, and @StarSailor who just went through this successfully. Makes the whole process feel way less scary when you know others have navigated it recently. Planning to apply next Tuesday morning with all my documents ready. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - this community support makes such a difference! šŸ™

Wow, reading through this whole thread has been eye-opening! I'm about to start looking for work after finishing school and had no idea the NY unemployment system was this complicated. It's honestly pretty scary that if I ever need to file, it might take days of troubleshooting just to access the basic service. Really appreciate everyone documenting all these workarounds though - I'm bookmarking this thread just in case. It's amazing how this community came together to solve what should be a simple government function. Hopefully NY fixes these issues soon, but until then at least we have each other's backs!

Smart to bookmark this thread for future reference! Hopefully you never need to use it, but if you do end up having to file unemployment, you'll be way ahead of the game. It really is wild that accessing basic government services has become this complicated - makes you wonder how many people just give up when they can't figure out the system. At least this community has created a pretty comprehensive troubleshooting guide between everyone's experiences. Good luck with your job search, and fingers crossed NY gets their act together with the website before anyone else needs to use these workarounds!

This thread is absolutely gold! I just spent 2 hours going in circles on the NY unemployment site before finding this discussion. I'm a returning filer (last claimed in early 2024) and was hitting the exact same wall as everyone else. Vincent's step-by-step method worked perfectly for me - had to clear my cache completely and go through the My NY.gov dashboard route rather than trying to navigate directly to unemployment services. Also had to switch from Firefox to Chrome and disable uBlock Origin. It's honestly insane that we need a whole community wiki just to file for benefits, but I'm so grateful you all figured out these workarounds! This should be pinned somewhere for other people struggling with the same issue.

I just went through this process last month after getting laid off from my marketing job in Manhattan. The 2-3 week timeline everyone mentioned is pretty accurate - mine took exactly 18 days from filing to first payment. One thing that really helped me was downloading the NY.gov mobile app instead of just using the website - I found it updated faster and was easier to navigate when checking my claim status. Also, since you mentioned rent stress, I'd recommend reaching out to 311 about emergency assistance programs. They connected me with a few resources that helped bridge the gap while waiting for benefits. The worst part is definitely that first waiting period, but once the payments start they're pretty consistent. Make sure you have your bank account info ready for direct deposit - it speeds things up significantly once you're approved!

Thanks for the tip about the mobile app - I didn't even know there was one! I've just been refreshing the website constantly which is probably driving me crazy for no reason. The 18-day timeline gives me hope since I'm right around that mark now. I'm definitely going to call 311 about emergency assistance programs - I hadn't thought of that resource. It's so helpful hearing from people who just went through this recently with actual timelines. The direct deposit tip is noted too - I'll double-check that's all set up correctly in my account. Really appreciate you sharing your experience!

Just wanted to add my recent experience to help ease some anxiety here - I filed my unemployment claim in early April after getting laid off from my finance job in Midtown. It took exactly 19 days to get my first payment, which aligns with what others are saying about the 2-3 week timeline. A couple things that helped me during the waiting period: 1) I called my utility companies to explain the situation and they were surprisingly understanding about extending due dates, 2) Many NYC food pantries don't require proof of income status and can help stretch your grocery budget while waiting, and 3) I set up account alerts for both my bank and the NY.gov site so I wasn't constantly checking manually. The hardest part is definitely the uncertainty, but based on what you've shared about your work history, your claim sounds very straightforward. Restaurant workers have been hit hard and the system recognizes this. Try to focus on things you can control (weekly certifications, having all your paperwork ready) rather than refreshing that status page constantly!

This is such practical advice, thank you! I hadn't thought about calling utility companies - that's actually brilliant and could really help with the cash flow crunch. The food pantry suggestion is also really helpful and removes some of the pride barrier since you mention they don't require income verification. I've been driving myself crazy refreshing that status page multiple times a day, so setting up automatic alerts sounds like it would save my sanity. Your timeline of 19 days gives me hope since I'm getting close to that point. It's really reassuring to hear from someone in finance who went through this recently - shows this situation can happen to anyone regardless of industry. Thanks for sharing these concrete steps I can take while waiting!
