Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. I think your supervisor's statement is key here. Make sure it clearly states you were laid off and did not quit. At the hearing, they'll probably ask why your employer is claiming otherwise.

Call ur local legal aid! Most counties have free legal services that help with unemployment hearings. They can even represent you at no cost if you qualify financially. Google "[your county] legal aid unemployment" and something should come up.
THIS!! I had legal aid help me and it made a huge difference. The lawyer knew exactly what to say and what evidence was most important.

Be super careful with this. My friend got in trouble for putting unemployment as business income on an SBA form. They are totally different things and mixing them up can get u flagged for potential fraud even if its just an honest mistake.
lmao the fact that you even have to ask this shows how terrible these systems are designed. nobody can understand this stuff without a law degree 🤡

Quick question - did you receive a notice about the overpayment? There should be instructions on there about how to proceed. If you didn't get one, that could be part of the problem.
