Omg I had to wait 11 months for my amended return to process last year. The IRS is completely overwhelmed with these. Don't trust any timeline they give you.
wow does this actually work? seems too good to be true
This is why i always double check my first few paystubs at a new job lol. Good luck bro, ur in for a wait. Make sure u consider a payment plan if the amount is high.
This happened to me! Filed feb 2024, got the "we need to review your credits" message. Called a million times but it was useles. Finally got through to them with claimyr.com in July - turned out they were done with the review but there was a processing error they needed to fix manually. Got my refund in August. It was literally sitting there approved but stuck because their system is garbage.
This might sound weird but check your bank account every few days. My refund just appeared one day with zero warning - the WMR tool never updated and I never got any notification from the IRS. The system is so broken right now.
The IRS is moving at glacier speed this year. i filed in February and just got my refund last week. the system is broken beyond belief.
Same! Filed in January and just got mine. Beyond ridiculous.
Call the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service. They can sometimes help when refunds are stuck like this. Number is 877-777-4778. Better than the regular IRS number.
Taxpayer advocate is even harder to reach these days. They're so backed up they're only taking "hardship" cases now.
after 4 years of dealing with irs nonsense i finally got through to a real person using claimyr.com and it was life changing. talking to an actual agent got my refund released within days after months of weird status changes and zero communication. sometimes you just need to talk to a human being who can actually look at your file.
how long did it take to get through? i've been trying for weeks
Okay so this is gonna sound weird but check if there was a full moon when your status changed. I SWEAR the IRS systems go haywire during full moons - it's like a known thing in the tax prep community. Status often changes back a few days later.
Dead serious! My tax guy has tracked this for YEARS and swears there's a correlation. Their systems do maintenance during certain lunar cycles and it messes with the status displays. Sounds crazy but š¤·āāļø
I work in IT and this is actually more common than you'd think. Many scheduled system updates happen on preset lunar calendar schedules dating back to old government protocols. Sounds insane but it's real!

This happened to me and it turned out someone had stolen my identity and filed a fraudulent return š¬ not to freak you out but keep an eye out for a letter asking you to verify your identity through ID.me

ā¢About 3 months total. Had to verify my identity online and then file an identity theft affidavit (Form 14039). It was a hassle but eventually got sorted out. Hope that's not your situation!

sometimes those codes appear and then resolve themselves without you having to do anything. happened to me in 2022 and my refund randomly showed up in my account about 4 weeks after filing even though the transcript still showed those holds.
