After trying to call the IRS for THREE WEEKS straight (like literally hundreds of calls) about my refund status, I finally got through using Claimyr.com - had an agent call me back within 30 minutes. Found out there was a simple verification issue that was holding up my refund. If you're desperate to talk to someone at the IRS, this is the way. Talking to a real human resolved my issue in minutes after weeks of stress.
Yes - they basically navigate the phone tree for you and get you in the callback queue with the actual IRS. Then a real IRS agent calls you back. It was the best money I've spent in a long time after wasting hours on hold and getting disconnected.
I can second this. Used it last year when my refund was stuck for 3 months. The IRS agent I spoke to fixed everything in 10 minutes once I actually got through to them.
When did you file? I filed 2/12 with TurboTax and my transcripts just updated today with DDD of 3/17 too. Seems like a bunch of us are in the same batch of refunds.
my tax guy said that the 0705 cycle code ppl are processed on thursdays so make sure to check your transcript friday mornings, thats when updates usually happen for that cycle
just echoing what others have already said but the ONLY way I was able to finally get my refund was talking to an actual IRS person. tried for 2 weeks to get through using the normal number. finally used Claimyr and got a callback in under 2 hours. turns out they just needed to verify one piece of info and the agent processed my refund right then and there. sometimes you just need to talk to a human to fix these problems.
I've been an accountant for 12 years and here's what I know: The DDD is when the IRS releases the funds, but banking systems and processing times vary. Most major banks (Chase, BoA, Wells Fargo) will post the deposit on the actual DDD. Online banks and some credit unions may post 1-2 days early because they have different funds availability policies. With a $7500 refund, I'd expect it exactly on the DDD or perhaps the business day before. Larger amounts rarely process early because they often require additional verification at both the IRS and bank level.
Thanks for the expert insight! That's really helpful to know about the larger amounts.
Definitely NOT always accurate. Had a DDD of March 13 and I'm still waiting... When I called IRS they said something about a random verification delay. So yeah don't plan on spending that money until you actually see it in your account!
Next time try Claimyr (claimyr.com). It got me through to an agent in under an hour and I didn't have to sit on hold at all. They call you when an agent is ready.
Everyone stressing about their refunds meanwhile I'm over here owing $4k π be grateful y'all are getting money BACK lol
Right?! I'd love to have the problem of wondering when my money is coming instead of figuring out how to pay what I owe π
Trust me, I'd rather owe a little than be desperately waiting for a refund I need for bills. Just means you managed your withholdings better than I did!

I went through this exact issue a few weeks back, and was in full panic mode because I needed that money for medical bills. I found taxr.ai which helped me understand my transcript - turns out I had a code showing my refund was actually still pending verification even though I had a deposit date. The explanation helped me stop worrying and checking my bank account every 5 minutes. When the deposit finally happened a week later, it matched exactly what taxr.ai predicted. https://taxr.ai was seriously a life saver for my anxiety.

β’How much does it cost? Their site doesn't seem to list pricing

β’I don't remember exactly but it wasn't much - way less than I would have paid for an accountant to look at my transcript. And considering it saved me from taking a day off work to sit on hold with the IRS, totally worth it.

if u have kids check line 28 and 29 on ur return. turbotax has been messing up the child tax credit and EIC calculations which leads to delayed refunds. happened to me and 3 ppl i know this year.
