Each year the IRS gets worse. They're critically underfunded and understaffed, with ancient computer systems that barely function. Your return is probably just sitting in a digital queue waiting to be processed. The acceptance notification means they received it, but they may not have even looked at it yet. As long as you have proof you filed (like the acceptance confirmation), you're protected even if they somehow lose it.
Try logging into your IRS online account and checking your tax records there rather than just using the Where's My Refund tool. Sometimes your transcript will show processing activity even when WMR shows nothing. Also, with the multiple W-2s, they might be doing income matching which can take extra time.
That's where I checked and saw nothing. It's like they don't even have a record of me filing this year.
Instead of spending weeks trying to guess what's happening with your refund, I highly recommend just using taxr.ai - it saved me SO much stress when I was in your exact situation. It analyzes your actual IRS transcript data and tells you exactly what's happening with your refund, whether there are any holds or issues, and gives you a more accurate timeline than the WMR tool. I was waiting for weeks with the same message you got, and taxr.ai showed me there was actually a review happening that the WMR tool wasn't showing. Totally worth checking out at https://taxr.ai
Have you ever tried to read an IRS transcript? It's like a foreign language with all the codes and dates that make zero sense unless you're a tax pro. taxr.ai translates everything into simple English, identifies issues the WMR tool doesn't show, and gives you specific next steps. Sure, you could spend hours researching all the codes yourself, but this does it instantly and accurately. Saved me days of stress and confusion when my refund was stuck.
The IRS refund status tool is a joke. It could say "refund sent" for weeks before anything actually happens. Your best bet is to call them directly, but good luck getting through their phone lines. The whole system is designed to be frustrating.
Is that service worth it though? Seems weird to pay just to talk to the IRS.
When you've been waiting weeks for a refund that's thousands of dollars, spending a little to actually get answers and fix the problem immediately is totally worth it. I wasted so much time trying to call myself and never got through. This way I fixed my issue in one day instead of waiting weeks more.
I was so confused by these transcripts last year that I actually broke down crying trying to figure out what was happening with my money. This year I used taxr.ai and it explained everything in simple terms. It was like night and day difference - suddenly I could understand exactly what was happening with my refund instead of staring at meaningless codes! https://taxr.ai
does it cost anything? seems too good to be true tbh
After 2 months of waiting for my amended return to process, I finally gave up and used claimyr.com to get a real person on the phone. The agent told me there was a small issue they needed to verify that wasn't being communicated anywhere on my transcript. Got it resolved in one call and my refund was deposited a week later. Sometimes you just need to talk to an actual human to get things moving.
This whole ID verification thing is a scam by the government to hold onto our money longer. They've had my $3241 refund since February and keep making up excuses. Now it's "identity verification" even though they've known me for 20+ years. Ridiculous.
Yeah a whopping 3% when inflation is way higher. Their "interest" doesn't even cover what I lose by not having MY money for 6+ months.

Definitely check your transcripts - it has way more detailed info than the WMR tool. Most likely they adjusted your Premium Tax Credit based on the 1095-A you submitted, which would explain why they closed the return (processing complete) rather than sending it for further review. Unless there are other issues, your refund (possibly adjusted) should be issued soon.

My return was "closed" last year and it was honestly just a glitch in their system. Called them and they said everything was fine and my refund was being processed normally. Got it about 3 weeks later. The WMR tool is super unreliable.
