Check your transcript again in a few days. You'll likely see code 571 (resolving the 570 hold) and then an 846 code with your refund date. The WMR update is definitely a good sign - means the system is working through whatever the issue was. Hang in there!
Those codes drove me INSANE last year. I was stuck in tax limbo for 3+ months. Finally got a human on the phone using Claimyr (claimyr.com) and they sorted it in minutes - turns out there was just a simple verification flag on my account. My refund was released like 2 days later. It was the best money I've ever spent after wasting countless hours trying to call the IRS myself.
What kinda debts can they offset for? I thought it was just other tax debts, child support and student loans... is there anything else?
They can also offset for state tax debts, unemployment overpayments, and certain other federal debts like SBA loans or housing loans. Basically any federal debt and some state debts can be collected through tax refund offset.
dang didnt know they could take it for so many diff things š³
Those offset notices are THE WORST. They give you a heart attack making you think they're taking everything, then you end up with some random small amount and no explanation. Classic government efficiency at work š
You should file an amended return (1040X) to correctly report those missing W2s. Even though the IRS has the information, it's still technically your responsibility to report everything accurately. This might speed up the process rather than waiting for their review.
DO NOT do this! Filing an amended return while they're already reviewing your original return will cause more delays and confusion. When they have a 570/971 situation, let them finish their process first.
Oh you're right - didn't realize they had already started the review process. In that case definitely wait it out.
those transcript codes are driving me crazy too! i've been stuck with 570/971 for 4 months!!!! tried calling 37 times but never got through. finally used claimyr.com and talked to someone who explained everything and fixed my issue on the spot. never would have gotten my refund without it. save yourself weeks of stress!
OK so this is probly not what u want to hear but sometimes they do "random verification" and dont tell u. I had exact same situation last year and when I FINALLY got someone on phone after 3 weeks of trying, they said my refund was selected for random review but system never sent me notice. Got my $ like 2 days after that call.
Pro tip: the phone number on the IRS website is basically useless. Call 877-777-4778 instead. It's for the Taxpayer Advocate Service. They're way more helpful and can actually see what's going on with your refund. I spent 2 weeks trying the regular number with no luck, then got through on this one in 20 minutes.
I tried this number last week and they said they're not taking cases unless you can prove financial hardship š
Really? That sucks. Might depend on your local office. Mine was pretty helpful even though I wasn't in dire straits.

You can call your bank directly and ask them about their specific policy for the early deposit feature. Some count business days only, others count calendar days. The IRS message is completely separate from your bank's early deposit feature.
