Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold last week. Also, be super nice to the rep, even if youre frustrated. They deal with angry people all day and are more likely to help if youre pleasant.

Has anyone tried applying for PUA instead of regular UI? I heard its easier to get approved for extensions that way.

Honestly, at this point, I've given up on EDD and started doing gig work. It's not ideal, but at least it's some income while I look for a permanent job. Maybe consider that as a backup plan?
What kind of gig work are you doing? I've been thinking about trying that too.
Mostly Uber Eats and DoorDash. It's flexible and you can start pretty quick. Just be aware of the wear and tear on your car if you go that route.

Okay, listen up. I've been through this rodeo before, and here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Write down dates, times, and names of anyone you talk to at EDD. 2. Check your email (including spam) for any messages from EDD about identity verification. 3. Gather all your identity documents: driver's license, social security card, utility bills, etc. 4. Keep calling EDD. Yes, it's a pain, but persistence pays off. Try different times of day. 5. If you can't get through on the phone, try reaching out on social media. Sometimes they respond there. 6. Consider contacting your local state representative's office. They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. 7. Don't panic. I know it's stressful, but there are processes in place to resolve this. It might take time, but you'll get it sorted. Remember, you're not alone in this. The system is overwhelmed, but keep pushing. You got this! 💪
Great advice! I'd add: keep a record of all your attempts to contact them. It could help if you need to escalate the issue.
Also, be polite yet firm when speaking with representatives. It can make a difference.

Have you considered that maybe there's a new deduction or tax withholding? $45 difference could be some kind of percentage taken out. Double-check your withholding settings on your EDD account.

idk if this helps, but I had a similar issue last year. Turned out it was because of some weird quarterly wage review thing. Might be worth asking about that when you finally get through to someone.
