UPDATE: We checked my daughter's account this morning, and both our contributor sections are showing as "Complete" and the application status is "Processing." Looks like having both accounts wasn't an issue after all! The SAI isn't calculated yet, but at least it seems to be moving forward. Thanks everyone for the help!
That's great news! The SAI calculation typically takes 3-7 business days right now due to high volume. Once you get the SAI, your daughter's information will automatically be sent to the schools she listed on her FAFSA.
does anyone know what happens if the SAI is wrong because of the contributor stuff? can u fix it after or do u have to start all over??? asking 4 a friend lol
You can make corrections to a submitted FAFSA! Log into studentaid.gov, go to the FAFSA form section, and select "Make FAFSA Corrections." You don't have to start over. Just be aware that corrections may delay your SAI calculation by a few more days.
Just to add one more thing that sometimes causes confusion: The CSS Profile (which some private colleges require in addition to FAFSA) is different - you have to pay for each school you send it to. But the FAFSA itself goes to all listed schools at no cost.
Thank you for clarifying! She does have a couple private schools that require the CSS Profile so we'll handle those separately.
FAFSA is SO FRUSTRATING this year with all the changes!!! We had to submit my daughter's 3 times because of errors. Make sure you double check all the school codes - my daughter accidentally put one wrong digit for one school and they never got her info. Took us weeks to figure out the problem!
my daughter got her pell grant after we fixed our income info, it took like 8 days for correction to go thru but worked out fine in the end. def worth fixing
Update: I submitted the correction yesterday afternoon and called the financial aid office this morning. They were super helpful and made a note in my daughter's file about the pending correction. They said they'd make a provisional aid package based on our explanation of the error while waiting for the official update. Thank you all for the advice and encouragement!
The whole system is designed to be confusing! My daughter's application was delayed by almost a month because of these exact same signature issues. And then they had the nerve to tell us we missed priority deadlines at her top school. CRIMINAL!
While frustrating, most schools understand the widespread FAFSA delays this year and have adjusted their processes accordingly. I recommend contacting the financial aid office at your daughter's school directly - many are extending deadlines or making accommodations for students affected by FAFSA processing issues.
Glad to hear your status updated! One additional tip: once your FAFSA is fully processed and you receive your SAI, make sure to check if your schools' financial aid offices have actually received your FAFSA data. There can sometimes be a delay in the information being transmitted to your selected schools even after the application shows complete on your end.
That's really good to know! I'll definitely follow up with my school's financial aid office after I get the SAI. Thank you so much for all your help!

•Creating a new FAFSA application can actually cause more problems! The system might flag both applications as duplicates, which can delay processing even more. Always try to correct the existing application rather than starting over, especially after it's been processed.

UPDATE: After trying everything, I finally got through to a FAFSA agent this morning! Used the Claimyr service that was suggested here and it worked perfectly. The agent confirmed it was a known issue with the system and did the signature override. She said it should be reprocessed within 3-5 days. She also gave me a case number to provide to my daughter's schools if they need proof we've resolved the issue before their deadline. Thank you all for your help!

•So glad you got it fixed! I've been telling everyone in my daughter's senior class parent group about this issue because so many are running into it. Good to know that service works for getting through to someone quickly.
