Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

Last thing - if your claim gets denied for any reason, you have 30 days to appeal. Don't just accept a denial, especially if you think it's wrong. The appeal process exists for a reason.
Hopefully I won't need to appeal but good to know there's an option. Thanks everyone for all the detailed help!

One final reminder about Claimyr that was mentioned earlier - if you do end up needing to reach Washington ESD and can't get through, don't suffer in silence for weeks like some of us did. That service has helped several people in this thread already.

Make sure you're answering the work search questions correctly on your weekly claims. If you accidentally mark that you refused work or weren't available, it can flag your whole claim for review.
I've been really careful with those questions but now I'm paranoid I made a mistake somewhere. Is there a way to see your previous answers?
You can see some of your previous weekly claim info in eServices, but not all the detailed answers. An agent could review it with you though.
Hang in there. I know it's stressful when you need the money now. The payments will come eventually with full backpay, you just have to get through this waiting period first.

File your claim today! There's literally no benefit to waiting and every day you delay is another day before you can potentially receive benefits. The system is designed for you to file as soon as you become unemployed.

Just wanted to add that if you worked in multiple states, you might have options for where to file. But since you worked in Washington recently, filing here makes the most sense. The Washington ESD system is pretty user-friendly once you get started.

Yeah, multi-state claims can get complicated. Stick with Washington ESD since that's where your recent work history is.

Have you looked into any free relationship resources? Some libraries have relationship books, there are free online workshops, podcasts about navigating financial stress in marriage.
I hadn't thought about library resources. That's a good idea since money is tight right now.
Libraries are goldmines for free resources. Many also have free wifi if you need to do job applications there for a change of scenery.

Just remember to keep detailed records of everything - when you filed, when you got responses, any communications with Washington ESD or your former employer. If things get complicated, having good records helps a lot.

Final thought - even if you think you might not qualify, apply anyway. I've seen people surprised by approvals when they thought they'd be denied. Washington ESD looks at each case individually.
