Good luck with your application! Most people get approved without major issues. The waiting is the hardest part but once you're in the system and filing weekly claims it becomes routine.
Just remember to be patient with the process. Washington ESD handles thousands of claims and sometimes things take longer than expected. But the benefits are there to help you get back on your feet, so don't let the bureaucracy discourage you from applying.
Thank you everyone for all the helpful advice! I feel much more confident about starting this process now. I'm going to gather all my employment info and file my application this weekend.
Just remember that even though the system can be frustrating sometimes, unemployment benefits are there to help you during this transition. Don't feel bad about using a program you've paid into through your taxes.
I'm in the same boat - benefits running out next month and no job yet. Reading all these comments is pretty depressing but at least I know what to expect now.
One thing to keep in mind is that if you do find work, even part-time, you might be able to do a partial claim depending on your earnings. That could help bridge the gap while you look for full-time work.
If all else fails and you need to talk to someone at Washington ESD, I've heard that Claimyr service mentioned here actually works. My cousin used it when her claim got stuck in adjudication and she finally got answers.
Three people have mentioned Claimyr now. Must actually work if people keep recommending it.

Overall it's not as scary as it seems at first. You've got this! File your claim and take it one step at a time.

Good luck! And remember if you run into any roadblocks trying to reach Washington ESD, there are services like Claimyr that can help you actually get through to talk to someone. Sometimes talking to a real person makes all the difference in understanding your specific situation.

•I'll definitely remember that. Hopefully the process goes smoothly but it's good to know there are options if I need help.
