Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

Has anyone used that Claimyr service that was mentioned? I'm not starting a job yet but I've been trying to get through to Washington ESD about my adjudication status for weeks with no luck.

I've used Claimyr twice now when I needed to talk to Washington ESD about different issues. First time was about my benefit amount calculation, second time was about a job search requirement question. Both times it was so much easier than trying to get through on my own.

Bottom line: file your claim with Washington ESD online, file your weekly claims every week, and let Washington ESD handle all the payments. Your former employer is out of the picture once you're laid off, except for any separation information they provide to Washington ESD.

Just wanted to add that if you're getting severance pay, that might affect when your unemployment benefits start. Washington ESD considers severance as wages so there could be a delay. Something to keep in mind when planning your finances.
It usually just delays when your benefits start, not the whole claim. But you should definitely mention it when you file so they can calculate everything correctly.

One last thing - keep all your termination paperwork safe. If your employer gave you any written reason for the firing, that will be important evidence. Also check if you're eligible for any final paycheck or vacation payout.
They didn't give me anything in writing, just told me verbally it was performance issues. Should I ask for something in writing?
You can try, but they're not required to provide it. Just document what they told you verbally as best you can remember.

One last thing - if you're getting any other benefits like food stamps or medical assistance, make sure your unemployment income doesn't affect those programs. I had to report my UI benefits to other agencies too.

Update for anyone still reading - I ended up using Claimyr one more time this month when I needed clarification about how to report some consulting work.
