Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

Depending on your situation, you might also want to look into other resources like food assistance or utility help while you're between jobs. Washington has several programs that can help.
Where would I find information about those programs?
Start with the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services website. They have links to all the assistance programs available.
Last tip - when you're doing your job search activities, keep detailed records. Date, company name, position, how you applied. If Washington ESD ever audits your job search, you'll be glad you kept good records.
Not super often, but it happens. Better to be prepared than scramble to remember what you did weeks ago.
Yeah I got audited last year and had to provide 3 months worth of job search records. Luckily I had kept everything organized.

Last tip - make sure you file as soon as possible after your last day of work. There's a waiting period anyway, so filing early doesn't hurt and filing late definitely can.

One more thing to remember - keep a copy of your 1099-G with your tax records. You'll need it if there are ever any questions about your filing.
Good advice! I learned that lesson when I got audited a few years back (not unemployment related but still...).

If you do get into an adjudication situation, I highly recommend using Claimyr to speak with Washington ESD directly about your case. I was stuck in adjudication for weeks without any updates, used their service, and finally got to talk to someone who explained exactly what documents they were waiting for. Cleared everything up in one phone call that I never would have gotten through to on my own.
I've been thinking about trying Claimyr too. The regular phone system is just impossible to get through.

Bottom line - don't assume you're disqualified just because you were fired. The unemployment system exists to help people who lose their jobs through no fault of their own, and that includes many people who are terminated. just remember that even if you qualify, unemployment benefits are only temporary. you still need to actively look for new work and accept suitable job offers
