Just wanted to follow up - were you able to get what you needed? If you're still struggling with this, there are a couple of other options: 1. The self-service option: If you go to your eServices account, under the "More" dropdown menu, there should be an option for "Benefits Verification" where you can generate a letter yourself 2. WorkSource offices can sometimes help with documentation needs when you can't reach ESD directly 3. As a last resort, a written statement from you along with bank statements showing the deposits from Employment Security Department might work for your landlord temporarily
Thank you for checking back! I used Claimyr yesterday and finally got through to ESD. They're emailing me an official benefit verification letter today. The agent said there's been a system issue with some of the automatic letters not generating properly. For anyone else with this issue - definitely check the "More" dropdown menu as suggested, but in my case that option wasn't showing up due to the system glitch.
Glad to hear you got it sorted out! That system glitch explains a lot - I bet there are tons of people dealing with the same issue right now. Thanks for updating us on the Claimyr service too, that's really helpful to know it actually works. Hope your landlord accepts the verification letter and you can get moved in without any more hassles!
Bottom line for OP and anyone else worried about this - you have way more time than you think (one year), but don't waste that time because every week you wait is a week of benefits you can't get back. File ASAP!
Just to add some peace of mind for anyone still reading this - I was in a similar situation last year where I waited almost a month to file because I was overwhelmed by all the conflicting information online. The one year deadline is definitely real, but don't let that make you think you have all the time in the world. I ended up losing out on nearly $1,200 in benefits just from that month of procrastination. The application process itself is actually pretty straightforward once you sit down and do it - took me about 30 minutes online. The hardest part is just getting started, so don't overthink it!
Based on everything in this thread, here's what I recommend: 1. Apply for partial unemployment immediately 2. Talk to your boss and get written confirmation that your hours were reduced due to business slowdown 3. Request standby status if your boss believes you'll return to full-time within 4-8 weeks 4. If standby is denied, complete your 3 job search activities each week 5. Report all earnings accurately when filing weekly claims You're doing the right thing by exploring your options rather than just quitting. The system is designed to help in exactly your situation - when work slows down but hasn't completely stopped.
Just wanted to add one more thing that might help - when you do apply, make sure to apply online through the ESD website rather than trying to call. The online system is much more reliable and you'll get your claim started immediately. Also, keep detailed records of everything: your reduced hours each week, any conversations with your boss about the situation, and all your job search activities if you don't get standby status. Having good documentation can really help if any issues come up later. Good luck with your application! The partial unemployment benefits should definitely help bridge the gap until your hours pick back up.
I'm dealing with this exact same issue! Filed my weekly claim Sunday evening and it's been stuck on processing since then. This is my first time experiencing this delay and I was getting really worried. Reading through everyone's comments here is so helpful - sounds like it's a widespread system issue this week rather than something specific to individual claims. I'll keep checking my account and hopefully it switches to paid soon like it did for others. Thanks for posting about this and to everyone who shared their experiences!
So glad you found this thread helpful! I was panicking when I first posted this, but it's reassuring to know so many others were experiencing the same delay. Definitely seems like it was just a system-wide processing issue rather than anything wrong with individual claims. Hopefully yours switches to paid status soon too - most people here said theirs updated within a day or two of the normal timeframe.
This is such a relief to read! I'm new to unemployment benefits and when my claim got stuck on processing after filing Sunday, I thought I had done something wrong. I've been checking my account obsessively every few hours. It's really helpful to see that this is a known issue that happens periodically with ESD's system. I'll stop panicking and just wait it out - hopefully mine updates to paid status soon like everyone else's did. Thanks for sharing your experience and creating this thread!

This thread has been super helpful! I was panicking about when my payment would come but now I know to expect it Wednesday. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences with Washington ESD payment timing.

•Agreed! This is exactly what I needed to know. Feel much better about the whole process now.

•Same here. Reddit forums are so much more helpful than the official Washington ESD website sometimes.

I've been getting Washington ESD unemployment for about 4 months now and can confirm the Wednesday payment schedule is very reliable. I file my weekly claim every Sunday afternoon and consistently get paid by Wednesday morning. The only times it's been delayed to Thursday were during holiday weeks like Thanksgiving and Christmas. One thing I learned is to set up text alerts with your bank so you know immediately when the direct deposit hits - makes budgeting so much easier when you know exactly when the money is available.

•That's such a good tip about setting up text alerts with your bank! I hadn't thought of that but it would definitely help with the anxiety of waiting to see if the payment came through. Do most banks offer that feature or just certain ones?
