FINAL UPDATE: The money arrived in my bank account this morning! So the full timeline was: - Monday: Approval letter - Wednesday: Status changed to "paid" in eServices - Friday morning: Money in my bank account Thanks again to everyone who helped explain the process and timeline. Such a relief to finally have this resolved after 3 months of stress and uncertainty. Hope this helps anyone else going through adjudication!
That's excellent news! This is exactly the normal timeline when everything is working correctly in the system. Glad it all worked out for you. Make sure you continue filing your weekly claims on time to keep receiving benefits. And don't forget about your job search activities - you need 3 per week and they can audit those records anytime within a year.
Congratulations on finally getting approved! Three months in adjudication sounds absolutely brutal. I'm currently on week 6 of waiting for my adjudication decision and posts like yours give me hope that there's light at the end of the tunnel. Your timeline from approval to actual payment (Monday approval letter to Friday deposit) is really helpful to know. I've been stressing about how long the payment process would take once I finally get approved. Thanks for sharing all the updates - this kind of detailed timeline is exactly what people in our situation need to see!
Thanks everyone for the detailed explanations! This clears up a lot of confusion I had about how unemployment works here. Now I understand why there's no deduction on my paystub.
This is really helpful information! I'm new to Washington state too and was wondering about this exact thing. It's actually pretty nice that we don't have to pay unemployment taxes like in other states. Does anyone know if Washington also has any unique rules about collecting benefits compared to other states? Like are there different waiting periods or anything?
For what it's worth, I've hired dozens of people over the years and unemployment history has never been a factor in any hiring decision. We care about skills and fit, not whether someone collected benefits between jobs.
I went through this exact same worry when I was job hunting after getting laid off from my tech job. Spent way too much time stressing about whether employers could see my UI claim. Turns out all that anxiety was for nothing - never came up in any of my interviews. The privacy protections in Washington are solid, and most employers are focused on whether you can do the job, not your benefit history. Just be prepared to explain any employment gaps honestly if asked, but don't overthink the UI privacy angle.
Good luck with your claim! Layoffs due to downsizing are exactly what unemployment benefits are designed for, so you should be approved without major issues once Washington ESD processes everything.
Just wanted to add that when you're filling out the job separation section, make sure you include the exact date of your last day worked, not just the month. Washington ESD uses this to calculate your benefit year and when payments can start. Also, if you received any final paychecks or vacation payouts after your last work day, you'll need to report those during your weekly claims since they can affect your benefit timing. The good news is that with a clear layoff due to company downsizing, you shouldn't face any eligibility issues - just make sure all your dates and details are accurate.
This is really helpful detail! I was wondering about those exact dates. My last day was actually different from when I got my final paycheck, so I'll make sure to be specific about the work date versus payment dates. Thanks for clarifying that vacation payout needs to be reported in weekly claims too - I wouldn't have thought of that.

I'm going through the exact same thing right now - filed 5 weeks ago and still pending determination. It's so frustrating not knowing what's causing the delay or when it might be resolved. Reading through everyone's experiences here is actually really helpful though. I had no idea interstate wages could cause such long delays, and the Claimyr service sounds like it might be worth trying if I can't get through soon. Thanks for posting this question Connor, at least we know we're not alone in this waiting game!

•@Danielle Campbell Exactly! It s'such a relief to know other people are going through the same thing. I was starting to think there was something seriously wrong with my application, but it sounds like these long waits are unfortunately pretty normal right now. The interstate wages thing makes so much sense for my situation too - I had no idea that could add weeks to the process. Definitely going to look into that Claimyr service since calling directly seems hopeless. Hang in there, hopefully we ll'both hear something soon!

I'm in week 7 of waiting for my determination and honestly, this thread has been more helpful than anything I've gotten from Washington ESD directly. The interstate wages explanation makes perfect sense - I worked in California before moving here and filed my claim based on those wages. Really wish they would communicate this stuff upfront instead of leaving us all in the dark guessing what's wrong. Going to try that Claimyr service this week because I'm tired of hitting redial 100 times a day just to get a busy signal. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, at least now I know I'm not crazy for expecting better communication from the system!
