Just curious - is anyone else noticing that ESD seems more willing to waive pandemic overpayments than regular UI overpayments? My cousin and I both had overpayments (mine from regular UI in 2025, hers from PUA in 2020) and she got hers waived easily while I'm still fighting mine.
Update: I submitted my waiver request yesterday with TONS of documentation. I included a very detailed explanation of how I misunderstood the reporting requirements during the pandemic and provided bank statements showing I have less than $500 to my name right now. Fingers crossed! Thanks everyone for the advice and I'll post again when I hear back from ESD.
Good luck! Be prepared to wait 6-8 weeks for a response. In the meantime, if they start any collection activities, immediately call and reference your pending waiver application.
Great news! Make sure you keep documentation of everything just in case there are any future issues. And don't forget to complete your weekly claims while receiving benefits.
One thing no one mentioned - check if you have any pending issues on your claim. Log into your eServices account and look under
Just checked my eServices and don't see any pending issues or alerts. Everything looks clean, which makes me think it really is just my bank being slow with processing. Thanks for the suggestion though!

has anyone tried going to the worksource office in person? i heard they can sometimes help with esd issues even though they're separate

•WorkSource staff can help with some basic UI questions, but they don't have access to the same systems as ESD claims agents. They can't resolve adjudication issues or override claim flags. However, they might be able to help identify what the specific issue is on your claim through their limited view of the system. Worth a try if you're completely stuck.

UPDATE: I FINALLY got through! Used the 3:15pm timing suggestion and the menu shortcut from @casual_commenter. Was on hold for 47 minutes but finally spoke with someone. Turns out my claim was flagged because I quit my previous job when my husband got transferred. The agent was actually really helpful and explained that I need to provide documentation of my spouse's job offer and our relocation. She put notes on my account and said the adjudicator should review it within 7-10 business days. THANK YOU all for your help!!

•Great news! Make sure to upload those documents ASAP through your secure portal. Also, when the adjudicator calls for the follow-up interview, be sure to emphasize that remaining in your previous location would have caused hardship due to family separation. That's a key factor for qualifying under the 'good cause quit' provision related to relocating for a spouse's employment.
