If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Got through to Governor's Office after ESD kept disqualifying my legitimate claim - what worked!

Just wanted to share my experience after being laid off from my tech job in January 2025. My ESD claims have been marked as 'Disqualified' for over a month with a mysterious adjudication status that never updates. After submitting FOUR weekly claims and getting nowhere, I hit my breaking point this morning. Tried calling ESD over 15 times today using different tactics - first tried the regular English queue, then the Spanish queue (I know enough to navigate), and even tried calling right when they opened. EVERY time I got the automated message saying 'call volume too high' before getting disconnected. Not even the option to wait on hold! Finally remembered seeing someone post about contacting the Governor's Office. Called their main number, extension 110, and spoke with someone named Marcus who was actually HELPFUL. Provided my claim ID, and he immediately sent an 'escalation report' to ESD. He said I should see movement on my account within 2-3 business days. Marcus mentioned they've been swamped with cases since the massive layoffs in the biotech and aerospace industries started in December. Apparently ESD's systems weren't prepared for the volume. The most frustrating part? Thinking about how they managed to pay out MILLIONS in fraudulent claims during COVID, but those of us with legitimate claims can barely get through! Anyone else had luck with the Governor's Office route or found another way to break through?

just wondering if anyone else is having issues with the 'Ability and Availability' questions throwing their claims into adjudication? i answered YES to being available for work every single time but somehow my claim got flagged anyway. makes no sense!!!!

This is actually a common issue. The system sometimes flags claims even when you answer correctly if there's any inconsistency with other information in your claim. For example, if you indicated certain work restrictions or limitations elsewhere in your application, it might trigger an availability review even if you answered 'Yes' to being available. Another possibility is that your employer provided information suggesting you might not be available (like if they indicated you turned down work or had scheduling restrictions). The adjudication process is supposed to sort this out, but as we've all seen, that's taking much longer than normal right now.

UPDATE: The Governor's Office escalation WORKED! Just got an update on my eServices account this morning - all my pending claims have been approved and payment is being processed! It took exactly 2 business days after I called the Governor's Office. For anyone else stuck in adjudication with no explanation, I 100% recommend this approach. Thanks to everyone who provided advice!

That's amazing! Did they ever explain what caused the disqualification in the first place?

Yes, actually! I got a call from an ESD specialist who explained there was a flag on my account because my former employer had initially contested the claim (saying I was fired for misconduct instead of laid off). Once they reviewed the documentation I submitted showing it was a position elimination, they approved everything. The specialist apologized for the delay and said they should have contacted me weeks ago but are just overwhelmed right now.

so like what if u made exactly ur weekly benefit amount? do u get nothing that week or do u get something?

0 coins

If you earn exactly your weekly benefit amount, you would not receive any unemployment benefits for that week. You only receive benefits when your earnings are less than your weekly benefit amount. In that case, ESD deducts 75% of what you earned from your weekly benefit. But if your earnings equal or exceed your weekly benefit amount, you receive $0 for that week. Still file your weekly claim though!

One more tip based on my experience - print out or screenshot the confirmation page after you submit your weekly claim with the high earnings reported. I had an issue once where ESD later questioned my reporting, and having those screenshots saved my butt! Just a good practice in general when dealing with unemployment stuff.

That's great advice! I'll definitely do that. I've been taking screenshots of most of my ESD interactions just to be safe. Better to have documentation and not need it than the other way around.

I'm still waiting on my 1099-G from 2023!!! ESD is such a mess, they sent it to my old address and now I can't get anyone to help me get a new one! This whole system is broken!

For 2023 1099-Gs, you should be able to download them directly from your eServices account without calling. Look under the 1099-G tax information section. If you don't see it there, you'll need to update your address in the system first, then request a duplicate form. But for the original poster's situation, they wouldn't have a 2024 form if no payments were issued in 2024.

Thank you all for the helpful information! I feel much better now. To summarize what I've learned: since my payments were all issued in January 2025 (I double-checked the dates in eServices), I'll only get a 1099-G for tax year 2025, which I'll receive in January 2026 for filing my 2025 taxes. I don't need to worry about missing a 2024 form. This makes tax season a little less stressful!

To summarize for everyone concerned about these refunds:\n\n1. Yes, they are legitimate refunds resulting from ESD's benefit calculation audit\n2. Official documentation is being mailed but is delayed (expect within 2 weeks)\n3. The money is yours to keep - it's a correction of an underpayment\n4. The refunds are taxable income for 2025 (will be on your 1099-G)\n5. If you need immediate confirmation, contacting ESD directly is your best option\n\nI hope this helps ease everyone's concerns. This is a rare case where ESD is actually correcting errors in the claimants' favor!

Thank you so much for this clear summary! I think I'll wait for the letter before spending the money, but I'm definitely feeling much better about the situation. Really appreciate everyone's input and experiences.

Update: I took several of your suggestions and have progress to report! I visited my local WorkSource office yesterday and they confirmed my claim is in adjudication due to "employment separation issues" - apparently my employer didn't respond to ESD's initial inquiry. The WorkSource staff couldn't fix it directly, but at least now I know what's happening. I also reached out to my state representative's office by email. Not giving up on trying to reach ESD directly. Thank you all for the help and suggestions!

That's great progress! Now that you know it's an employer response issue, you can be more specific when you do reach an ESD agent. Make sure to keep filing your weekly claims while this gets sorted out. The good news is that once your adjudication is complete (assuming it's decided in your favor), you'll receive all back benefits for the weeks you've claimed. One additional tip: If you can locate any documentation about your separation (layoff notice, emails, etc.), have those ready to provide if asked. This can sometimes speed up the adjudication process.

Thank you! I actually found the layoff notice email from my employer with the budget cut explanation, so I'll have that ready. Still trying to get through on the phone but at least I feel less in the dark now.
