File this week! Don't overthink it. The worst they can say is no, and then you can appeal if needed. But based on what you described, performance issues without clear misconduct usually qualify for benefits.
Last tip - when you do your phone interview (if they schedule one), be professional and stick to the facts. Don't badmouth your employer but do explain your side clearly. The ESD adjudicator just wants to understand what really happened.
The financial impact goes beyond just losing income - your credit can suffer, you might have to dip into retirement savings, the whole financial foundation gets shaky.
This is why I really need to get my Washington ESD benefits figured out. Every week without income makes things worse.
Seriously, if you're still having trouble reaching them, give Claimyr a try. Time is money when it comes to getting benefits resolved.
To summarize the main negative impacts: financial stress, mental health challenges, social isolation, loss of routine and purpose, relationship strain, skills atrophy, and reduced self-confidence. The good news is most of these are temporary if you take action to address them.
One more thing - if you're working part-time while receiving unemployment, those wages might affect your weekly benefit amount. Washington ESD has specific rules about how part-time earnings are calculated against your benefits.
The bottom line is that there's no specific length of time you have to work at one job, but you do need sufficient overall work history and wages during your base period. Most people who've worked steadily for 12-18 months will qualify, regardless of how that work was distributed among different employers.
Keep checking your account regularly for updates. Sometimes the 602a status will change without them sending you a notification. Mine went from wage verification to approved over a weekend and I almost missed it.
For future reference, you can also check your wage and employment history in the WorkSourceWA system to see what information Washington ESD has on file for you. Sometimes discrepancies there can trigger these verification reviews.

Bottom line: if you've worked consistently for over a year like the OP has, you almost certainly qualify. The edge cases are people who just started working or had very low wages.

•Good luck with everything! Hopefully the layoff rumors don't pan out for you.

Just to add one final tip - if you do get laid off, file your claim the same week. Don't wait thinking you might find another job quickly. You can always stop claiming if you find work, but you can't get benefits for weeks you didn't claim.

•Good advice! I was wondering about the timing of when to file.

•Yeah it's one of those things where acting fast saves you money later. The system has a waiting week anyway so there's no downside to filing right away.
