If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Bottom line for the OP - yes companies pay unemployment taxes, yes you're probably eligible, and yes you should file your claim ASAP. Don't wait around wondering about it.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to file my claim tomorrow. This thread was really helpful in clearing up my confusion.

Good luck with your claim! Remember to file your weekly certifications on time once you're approved.

One last tip - if you do run into any issues reaching ESD by phone, that Claimyr service really does work. I was skeptical at first but it saved me hours of frustration when I needed to update my claim information.

Noted! Seems like a lot of people have had success with it.

I finally got through this morning using the mobile app approach someone mentioned earlier. Filed my weekly claim on my phone with no issues. Thanks everyone for the tips! Going to bookmark this thread for future reference.

Awesome! I'm glad something worked for you. I'm going to try the early morning filing approach this weekend.

Great to hear! The mobile method seems to work well for a lot of people.

For anyone still having issues, the Washington ESD customer service page has a technical support section that lists known issues and workarounds. They don't always keep it updated but it's worth checking before you start troubleshooting.

I didn't know they had a technical support section. I'll check that out.

It's buried pretty deep in their website but it exists. Look for 'Technical Support' or 'Known Issues' in the help section.

One more thing - if you do find part-time work while collecting benefits, that can extend how long your benefits last since you're earning some money and claiming less each week.

0 coins

Interesting, I didn't know that. So part-time work doesn't automatically disqualify you?

0 coins

No, you can work part-time and still collect partial benefits as long as you report your earnings. It's actually encouraged as a way to transition back to full-time work.

honestly just call them if you're confused. yeah it takes forever to get through but at least you'll get accurate info specific to your situation instead of trying to figure it out yourself

Or use that Claimyr service someone mentioned - seems like a good way to skip the phone hassle.

I'm starting to think that might be worth it. This stuff is more complicated than I thought.

Just want to add that if anyone is having trouble getting through to ESD to ask about their specific benefit duration, I used Claimyr recently and it was a game changer. Finally got to talk to someone who could explain exactly how my benefits were calculated.

I keep seeing Claimyr mentioned. Is this like a paid service or what's the deal?

0 coins

Yeah it helps you get through the phone queues to actually reach ESD agents. Check out their demo video if you're curious about how it works.

Bottom line: plan for 26 weeks maximum, but check your actual benefit year end date and remaining balance in your ESD account. Don't just assume you get the full 26 weeks - it depends on your work history and wages.

This has been super helpful everyone. I feel much more informed about what to expect now. Thanks for all the advice!

Good luck with your job search! Hope you find something before your benefits run out.

Thanks everyone for all the helpful info. I feel much better about tackling my taxes now. Going to double-check my 1099-G against my payment history and then bite the bullet on whatever I owe. At least now I know to have taxes withheld if I ever need unemployment again.

Good luck with your taxes! It's definitely a learning experience the first time you have to deal with unemployment benefits on your tax return.

0 coins

Thanks! Definitely not something they teach you in school but good to know for the future.

Last tip from someone who's been through this multiple times - keep good records of all your unemployment-related documents. Payment confirmations, 1099-G forms, any correspondence with Washington ESD. Makes tax time much easier and helps if you ever need to prove anything to the IRS.

Great advice. I wish I had been more organized about this stuff from the beginning.

Live and learn! At least you know for next time. Organization really pays off when dealing with government agencies.
