Just wanted to add - if you run into issues getting through to Washington ESD by phone, that Claimyr service someone mentioned earlier really does work. I was skeptical at first but it saved me hours of frustration when I needed to resolve an issue with my claim.
The most important thing is to file as soon as you're unemployed, even if you're not sure about all the details. You can always ask questions later but you can't backdate your claim very far if you wait too long to file.
One more tip - take screenshots of everything when you file online. Save your confirmation numbers, print out pages, etc. I've heard of people having issues where the system said they never filed even though they did.
Hope this helps, OP. The whole process can be overwhelming but you've got this. Most people do get their benefits eventually, it just takes patience and persistence. File today and then focus on your job search while you wait.
this thread has been super helpful. i had no idea about the benefit year vs weeks distinction. washington esd really needs better explanations on their site
One more thing to keep in mind - if you do exhaust your regular benefits, make sure to keep filing your weekly claims if extended benefits become available. You have to stay in the system to be eligible.
Once you do get your claim filed, make sure to file your weekly claims every week even if it's still pending. Missing weekly claims can mess up your benefits later.

Just remember to keep filing your weekly claims even if your payment is delayed. Missing a week can cause all sorts of problems with your claim.

•Good point, I'll make sure to stay on top of that.

If you're really worried about timing, you can usually see the payment status change in your Washington ESD account before the money actually hits your bank. Look for it to change from 'pending' to 'paid'.

•You should be fine, sounds like you're doing everything right. The first payment is always the most nerve-wracking.
