If your payment is more than a week late, definitely call Washington ESD or use that Claimyr service people mentioned. Sometimes there are technical glitches that need manual fixes.
man i remember that feeling of constantly checking my bank account every hour waiting for that first unemployment payment. hang in there it'll come through
my advice is dont overthink it too much. if youve been working full time for 8 months you probably qualify as long as you didnt quit without good reason. just focus on finding your next job instead of planning for unemployment
I had to use Claimyr twice last year - once for eligibility questions and once when my claim got stuck in adjudication for weeks. Both times they got me through to Washington ESD agents who could actually help. The system is so overloaded that sometimes you need that extra help to reach someone.
One more thing - make sure you're ready to start filing weekly claims right away after your initial claim. Even during the waiting period, you need to keep up with your weekly claims to maintain your eligibility. Set a reminder for yourself to file every week.
Just want to echo what everyone else is saying - file immediately after your last day of work. I've been through this process twice and both times filing early made everything smoother. Washington ESD is pretty good about walking you through the steps once you get started.
One thing to watch out for - make sure your Oregon address doesn't mess up your direct deposit or debit card delivery. Update everything at the same time.
The bottom line is don't overthink it. You worked in Washington, you file with Washington ESD. Living in Oregon now doesn't change that basic fact.
And remember, if you need to talk to someone at Washington ESD and can't get through, that Claimyr thing really works. Check out claimyr.com if the phone lines are giving you trouble.

My cousin filed for unemployment and got her first payment in exactly 3 weeks. No issues with her claim though - I think that makes a big difference.

Good luck everyone! The unemployment system isn't perfect but it's there to help us get through tough times. Don't be afraid to use it if you need it.
