If anyone needs help getting through to Washington ESD about claim status, I had success with Claimyr too. Much easier than the endless busy signals and hold times. Really helped me get answers when I was stuck waiting.
Bottom line: 10 days is normal, 2-3 weeks is typical, and 4+ weeks means there might be an issue that needs attention. Keep filing weekly and stay on top of any correspondence from Washington ESD.
One more thing - if you're thinking about going back to school or training while on unemployment, Washington ESD has programs that might extend your benefits. Look into the Training Benefits program if you want to learn new skills.
Bottom line: 26 weeks maximum, file weekly claims on time, do your job searches, and don't count on extensions. Plan accordingly and you should be fine. Good luck with your claim!
One thing to keep in mind is that some corrections might affect your benefit amount, so be prepared for that possibility. Better to have the correct (possibly lower) amount than deal with overpayment issues later.
Bottom line: stick with your current claim and go through the correction process. It's faster, easier, and less risky than trying to start over. Most corrections are resolved within a month if you provide complete information upfront.

At least Washington's unemployment system is pretty well-run compared to some other states. When I needed to file a claim a few years ago, the process was relatively straightforward.

•Yeah, Washington ESD has their issues but they're better than a lot of other state unemployment agencies.

Bottom line - yes it's mandatory, yes it's legal, and yes it's actually a good thing to have even though it feels like just another deduction from your paycheck.
