If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

I'm really grateful for this explanation. The Washington ESD website makes it sound so complicated but it's actually pretty straightforward.

Right? Once someone explains it clearly it makes total sense. Wish they explained it better on their site.

Thanks everyone! This helped me understand why my benefit amount is what it is. Time to focus on job searching now.

Good luck with the job search! Remember you need to log at least 3 job search activities per week in your WorkSourceWA account.

Already signed up and started applying. Thanks for the reminder!

Just wanted to add that if you have direct deposit set up, payments usually come on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Without direct deposit, you'll get a debit card in the mail which takes longer.

0 coins

The debit card option has fees for some transactions, so direct deposit is definitely better if you can do it.

For anyone else reading this thread later - you can also file by phone if absolutely necessary, but the online system at esd.wa.gov is much faster and available 24/7. Phone filing is only recommended if you have no internet access.

Good point, though getting through by phone is nearly impossible these days. That's why services like Claimyr are so helpful - they can actually get you connected to speak with someone at Washington ESD when you need help.

One last tip - if your claim gets denied for any reason, you have the right to appeal. Don't just give up if you think the decision is wrong. The appeal process exists for a reason.

0 coins

How long do you have to file an appeal if needed?

0 coins

You have 30 days from the date on the determination notice to file an appeal. Don't wait - the deadline is strict.

just wanted to add that if you're really struggling financially while waiting for benefits to start, look into local food banks and assistance programs. there's no shame in getting help when you need it

0 coins

That's really thoughtful advice. Hopefully I won't need it but good to know resources are available.

yeah, unemployment can be stressful enough without worrying about basic needs. take care of yourself

I went through this whole process last year and the key thing is staying organized. Keep records of everything - your job applications, contacts with employers, any communication from Washington ESD. You never know when you might need to reference something.

0 coins

Should I keep records even after I find a new job?

0 coins

I'd keep them for at least a year. Sometimes Washington ESD does audits or you might get an overpayment notice later and need to show your job search documentation.

One last thing - don't be surprised if your first payment takes a while even after you're approved. There can be delays with the debit card being mailed or direct deposit being set up. Just be patient and make sure your banking/address info is correct.

0 coins

How long should I expect to wait for the first payment?

0 coins

Usually 1-2 weeks after your first weekly claim is processed, assuming no issues with your claim. Direct deposit is faster than waiting for the debit card to arrive by mail.

The confusion might come from the fact that some states have small employee contributions to disability insurance or family leave programs. But unemployment insurance is always employer-funded.

0 coins

Right, in Washington we have the WA Cares Act where employees pay a small amount for long-term care insurance. But that's completely separate from unemployment.

OP you should double check your W-2 or pay stubs to see what taxes were actually taken out. You'll see Social Security, Medicare, federal income tax, but no unemployment tax deduction for employees.

Good idea! I'll look at my last pay stub from before I got laid off. Thanks for all the help everyone.
