This thread has been super helpful! I was also confused about my benefit amount but now I understand it's based on old quarters, not recent pay. Washington ESD really should explain this stuff better upfront.
btw for anyone still struggling to reach washington esd about benefit calculations, that claimyr service mentioned earlier actually worked for me too. got through in like 15 minutes vs hours of busy signals
Just want to add - if your initial claim was based on wages from 2022 or early 2023, your new claim might be based on more recent (and possibly higher) wages. Sometimes people end up with better benefits on their second claim.
Make sure you file your new claim online through SecureAccess Washington, not by phone. The online system processes faster and you're less likely to have errors that delay your benefits.
Whatever you do, don't just disappear from the system. Keep filing your weekly claims until you're officially exhausted and stay engaged with WorkSource.
This thread has been really helpful. I'm going to call Washington ESD tomorrow using that Claimyr service to get specific answers about my situation before I panic any more.
The good news is that if you were legitimately laid off through no fault of your own and you meet the wage requirements, you'll probably be fine. Most denials are for people who quit, got fired for misconduct, or don't meet the work search requirements.
One last thing - if you have any doubt about your eligibility or get a denial, consider using that Claimyr service that was mentioned earlier. Sometimes talking to an actual Washington ESD representative can clear up confusion that leads to denials. Better to get clarification upfront than deal with an appeal later.

One more thing - if your claim gets stuck in adjudication or you have issues, don't wait weeks trying to call Washington ESD. I used Claimyr after seeing it mentioned here and actually got my adjudication issue resolved because I could talk to a real person.

•What kind of adjudication issue did you have? I'm worried mine might get complicated too.

•They questioned my job separation reason. Having an actual conversation with an agent helped clear it up quickly instead of waiting months.

Update us when you file! I'm curious how long the initial claim takes to process these days. Seems like everything with Washington ESD takes forever.

•Good luck! The waiting is the hardest part but once you get through the initial process it gets easier.
