If I could give 10 stars I would

If I could give 10 stars I would If I could give 10 stars I would Such an amazing service so needed during the times when EDD almost never picks up Claimyr gets me on the phone with EDD every time without fail faster. A much needed service without Claimyr I would have never received the payment I needed to support me during my postpartum recovery. Thank you so much Claimyr!

Really made a difference

Really made a difference, save me time and energy from going to a local office for making the call.

Worth not wasting your time calling for hours.

Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

An incredibly helpful service

An incredibly helpful service! Got me connected to a CA EDD agent without major hassle (outside of EDD's agents dropping calls – which Claimyr has free protection for). If you need to file a new claim and can't do it online, pay the $ to Claimyr to get the process started. Absolutely worth it!

Consistent,frustration free, quality Service.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Dropped a couple times but each reconnected not long after and was mission accomplished, thanks to Claimyr.

IT WORKS!! Not a scam!

I tried for weeks to get thru to EDD PFL program with no luck. I gave this a try thinking it may be a scam. OMG! It worked and They got thru within an hour and my claim is going to finally get paid!! I upgraded to the $60 call. Best $60 spent!

Make sure you file for the correct week! When they ask when you became unemployed, use the first day you were actually unemployed, not when you found out you were getting laid off.

Good point. So if my last day of work was a Friday, I'd put Saturday as when I became unemployed?

0 coins

Exactly! And if you got any final pay like vacation payout, make sure to report that too.

Final advice for OP: gather your employment info (employer details, dates, reason for separation), file tonight, start your weekly claims on schedule, and do your job searches. You'll be fine with the 2-week delay. Washington ESD deals with much worse timing issues every day.

Perfect summary, thank you so much everyone! This thread has been incredibly helpful. Filing right now.

Good luck! Come back and update us on how it goes.

Final piece of advice - file your return even if you can't pay what you owe right away. The penalty for not filing is much higher than the penalty for not paying on time. You can always work out a payment arrangement after you file.

0 coins

That's really important to know. I was worried about filing if I couldn't pay the full amount.

0 coins

Definitely file on time. The IRS is usually willing to work with people who file their returns and make an effort to pay, even if they can't pay everything at once.

Thanks everyone for all the helpful advice. I feel much better about tackling this tax situation now. Going to gather all my documents this weekend and either do it myself or find a tax preparer to help me out.

Good luck! Remember, lots of people go through this same situation, so don't stress too much about it.

Same here - thanks to everyone who shared their experiences. This thread has been incredibly helpful!

Bottom line - you get 26 weeks maximum in Washington, period. Use that time wisely to find something good rather than just taking the first thing that comes along if you can afford to be selective.

0 coins

That's the plan. Thanks everyone for all the helpful info about the 26 week limit and other requirements!

Good luck with your job search! Construction should pick up again soon with better weather coming.

Just remember to keep track of your job search activities too - Washington ESD can audit your job search log at any time and if you don't have proper documentation, they can deny your benefits even if you're within the 26 week limit.

Yeah I'm keeping a spreadsheet of all my job applications and contacts. Better safe than sorry with Washington ESD.

Smart approach! The job search requirements are strict and they do check up on people sometimes.

0 coins

Just remember that even if everything goes smoothly, it usually takes a week or two to get your first payment after filing.

0 coins

Good to know for budgeting purposes. I'll make sure I have enough saved for those first couple weeks.

The hardest part for me was the waiting period and not knowing if my claim was being processed correctly. Having Claimyr available as backup for when I needed to actually talk to someone at Washington ESD was a huge relief.

I'll definitely bookmark that claimyr.com site just in case I need it.

Remember that even though you're unemployed, you still need to report any income you receive while collecting benefits. This includes things like freelance work, odd jobs, or even selling stuff online if it's regular income.

0 coins

Good point - I'll keep that in mind if I pick up any side work while I'm looking for a new job.

0 coins

oh and one more thing - if you get a job offer while on unemployment, you generally have to take it if it's suitable work. they can cut off your benefits if you turn down a reasonable job offer

0 coins

What counts as 'suitable work'? Does it have to be in my same field or can they make me take any job?

0 coins

Suitable work considers factors like your skills, experience, previous wages, and commuting distance. They can't force you to take just any job, but the standards do get more flexible the longer you're unemployed.
