Was a bit nervous or untrusting at first, but my calls went thru. First time the wait was a bit long but their customer chat line on their page was helpful and put me at ease that I would receive my call. Today my call dropped because of EDD and Claimyr heard my concern on the same chat and another call was made within the hour.

Used this service a couple times now. Before I'd call 200 times in less than a weak frustrated as can be. But using claimyr with a couple hours of waiting i was on the line with an representative or on hold. Also remember that unemployment benefits are taxable income. You can choose to have taxes withheld or pay them when you file your return next year.
Ugh, I didn't think about taxes. Should I have them withheld?
Probably a good idea to have 10% withheld so you don't get hit with a big tax bill later.

Whatever you do, don't wait too long to file. There are time limits on when you can apply for benefits. Better to file now and potentially get denied than to wait and miss your chance entirely.

Good luck with your claim! Remember that Washington ESD has to prove you committed misconduct - you don't have to prove you didn't. If your absences were due to emergencies, that's a strong defense.

Last piece of advice - keep all your paperwork organized from day one. Washington ESD can request documentation at any time during your claim or even after it ends. Having everything organized makes life much easier if you need to provide proof of job searches, work history, or anything else.

Just wanted to mention Claimyr one more time since you'll probably need to call Washington ESD at some point during your 26 weeks. Whether it's about your weekly claim, job search requirements, or just checking on your claim status, having a reliable way to reach an agent is invaluable. The regular phone lines are still pretty backed up most days.
I bookmarked their site. Hopefully I won't need it but good to have as backup.
I used them last month when my claim went into adjudication. Got through to someone same day instead of waiting weeks for a callback that never came.

I've been tracking unemployment benefit rates across states for a research project and Washington consistently ranks in the top 3-5. The maximum weekly benefit amount of $999 puts it ahead of about 45 other states. But the duration is standard at 26 weeks like most places.
Several states have proposed increases but it's slow going. Political resistance to raising unemployment benefits is pretty strong in most places.
Meanwhile cost of living keeps going up but benefit amounts in most states stay the same for years. At least Washington adjusts theirs periodically.
The frustrating thing is that even with Washington having relatively high benefits, the process to get help when you have issues is still terrible. I needed to talk to someone about my job search requirements and it took using a service called Claimyr to actually reach a human at Washington ESD.
