My payment took exactly 21 days from when I filed my initial claim. I remember because I was counting every single day! Once it started though, the weekly payments came like clockwork. Hang in there, it's probably going to happen soon.
For anyone still having trouble reaching Washington ESD by phone, I found success using Claimyr recently. They handle the calling and wait times for you. Made the whole process much less stressful.
I thought it was worth it for the time and stress it saved me, but you can check their website at claimyr.com for current pricing. They also have a demo video that explains everything.
This thread has been really helpful! I was worried I only had a few weeks left but now I understand the 26-week system better. Thanks everyone for sharing your knowledge.
Final advice from someone who's been through this multiple times - file immediately, keep detailed records of everything, and don't hesitate to ask for help when you need it. The system can be confusing but the benefits are there if you follow the rules.
Just want to echo what others have said - there's really no benefit to waiting to file. Even if you think you might find work quickly, you can always stop filing weekly claims if you get a job. But you can't go back and claim weeks you didn't file for.
This has been a great discussion. It's amazing how many people don't understand the basic mechanics of unemployment insurance. Hopefully this thread helps others who have the same questions.

The quarterly earnings calculation can be tricky if you started working in the middle of a quarter. Make sure you understand which quarters count toward your base period when you file.

•I'll need to look at exactly when I started working and how that aligns with the calendar quarters.

•The base period is pretty standardized - it's the first four of the last five completed quarters before you file. Washington ESD will calculate it automatically when you apply.

Bottom line: if you've worked steadily for 8 months and earned reasonable wages, you should qualify. Don't overthink it - just file your claim if you become unemployed and let Washington ESD determine your eligibility.
