this whole thread is making me anxious about my own benefits running out soon. guess we're all in the same boat
Final thought - even if you can't get an extension, make sure you apply for any other benefits you might qualify for before your unemployment ends. The transition period is always rough.
Just want to add that if you're union, check with your rep too. Sometimes there are additional protections or benefits available during layoffs.
Bottom line - with 14 months of work history you should be fine to qualify. The bigger issue will be making sure you file correctly and navigate the weekly claims process smoothly.
Also don't forget that if you worked for multiple employers during your base period, Washington ESD will combine all those wages to calculate your benefit. So gather information from all your jobs during that timeframe.
For what it's worth, I was laid off last month and my claim was approved within 5 days. The process was actually pretty smooth once I got past the initial filing.
One last thing - make sure you start filing your weekly claims right away even if your initial claim is still being processed. You don't want to miss any weeks.

Bottom line - file your claim today. The worst thing that can happen is they say no, but you won't know unless you try. Don't let fear or embarrassment keep you from getting benefits you might be entitled to.

Also remember that even if you get approved, there's a one-week waiting period before benefits start. So file as soon as possible to get that clock ticking.

•Thanks for reminding me about the waiting week. Every day I delay is costing me money.
