One last thing - if you end up needing to call Washington ESD about your claim status, that Claimyr thing people mentioned really does work. I was skeptical at first but it got me through when I needed to talk to someone about my adjudication.
Bottom line: yes, you can get unemployment if you're fired. File immediately, be honest but strategic about how you describe the termination, and don't let your employer intimidate you. You've got this!
hang in there! the waiting sucks but most people do get approved if they're eligible. sounds like you have a straightforward case with the layoff so you should be fine
You're welcome! Feel free to come back and ask questions once you start receiving benefits. The weekly claim process and job search requirements can be confusing at first, but there are plenty of people here who can help guide you through it.
One last thing - keep copies of everything you submit and take screenshots of your weekly claims. If there's ever a dispute, you'll want documentation.
Thanks everyone for all the help! Going to start my application today. Hopefully it goes smoothly but at least now I know what to expect.
And remember that Claimyr option if you need to actually talk to someone at ESD!
One last thing - start looking for work right away even while your claim is processing. You'll need to show job search activities anyway and it looks good if there are any questions about your case.
This whole thread is why I love this forum. So much good info and support for people dealing with Washington ESD stuff. Hope everything works out for the OP!

Overall Washington ESD's unemployment system works pretty well if you understand the process. Weekly claims on Sunday, payments by Wednesday, keep good records, and you'll be fine. Just don't expect to get rich off unemployment - it's meant to be temporary assistance while you find new work.

Speaking from experience - when something does go wrong with your payments, don't wait around hoping it fixes itself. Get on the phone with Washington ESD immediately or use one of those services like Claimyr to help you get through. The longer you wait, the harder it becomes to sort out.

•I'll definitely keep that in mind. Better to be proactive than wait and stress about it.

•Exactly. Most payment issues can be resolved quickly once you actually talk to someone who knows what they're doing.
