Thanks to everyone who helped answer the timing question! This thread is going to help a lot of people who are confused about when to file with Washington ESD.
For anyone reading this later - the advice here is solid. File immediately, don't wait, keep filing weekly claims even if pending, and start job searching right away. That's the formula for success with Washington ESD unemployment.
Anyone else find it weird that they make it so hard to get basic information about your own benefits? Like why do I need to call customer service just to understand how much time I have left? The website should make this clearer.
The Washington ESD website definitely needs improvement. Half the time I can't even log into SecureAccess Washington without issues.
RIGHT?? This is exactly why I ended up using that Claimyr thing someone mentioned earlier. At least then I could actually talk to a human being who knew what they were talking about.
Bottom line: 26 weeks maximum, check your account regularly, keep applying for jobs, and don't wait until the last minute to figure out your next steps. The system isn't perfect but those are the basics everyone needs to know.
The benefit amount also depends on whether you're on regular unemployment or if you qualify for any extended benefits programs.
Bottom line: if you made decent wages in the past year, you'll probably get a reasonable benefit amount. The key is filing as soon as you're eligible and keeping up with your weekly claims.
My advice would be to start planning now for what you'll do when regular benefits end. Don't wait until the last minute to explore your options or apply for other assistance programs.

Been waiting 19 days now and starting to panic. Bills are due and I'm running out of options. This process is way too slow for people who need help immediately.

•Seriously consider using Claimyr to get through to Washington ESD. At least you'll know where you stand instead of wondering if something went wrong.

•I think I'll have to try that. This uncertainty is worse than just being denied at this point.

My advice is to be patient but also proactive. Keep checking your account daily and if you see any requests for information, respond immediately. Delays often happen when people don't notice they need to submit something.

•Good point. I've been checking every day but I'll make sure to look more carefully for any requests.
