Isn't it strange how the IRS expects us to file perfectly on time, but then they can take months to process our returns with no transparency? I've been watching my transcript for weeks and it just switched from N/A to showing my return yesterday. Could they make this process any more stressful? Has anyone noticed that returns with dependents seem to take longer than those without?
Be careful about assuming everything is normal. On March 12th last year, my transcript showed N/A for weeks. I ignored it thinking it was normal processing. On April 18th, I finally called and discovered my return had been flagged for identity verification but the notice had never reached me. Lost almost 6 weeks of processing time because I assumed the N/A status was normal. If you don't see movement by 30 days after filing, I strongly recommend calling to confirm everything is actually processing correctly.
According to the TurboTax support forums, you can check the status of your refund after the IRS sends it by going to https://taxpayer.sbtpg.com/ - this is the bank TurboTax uses as a middleman when you choose to have fees taken from your refund. I've seen several posts on r/tax confirming this adds 3-7 days to the process. The WMR tool only shows when the IRS sent it, not when you'll actually receive it.
Finally got my refund after dealing w/ this exact same issue! WMR said sent on 3/14, didn't hit my acct until 3/22. Turns out TT uses SBTPG bank and they were holding it. Called them directly (took forever to find the right #) and magically my $ appeared next day. Next yr def paying fees upfront instead of from refund. Such a hassle but at least got my cash eventually!
Yay! So happy for you! I filed February 20th and still waiting. Called the IRS three times but could never get through - just the automated system saying it's still processing. Finally used Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) yesterday and got through to a real person in about 15 minutes. The agent confirmed my return was approved but just waiting in the disbursement queue. Should have my date within a week. Definitely worth it after weeks of stress!
Wait what is Claimyr? I've been trying to call for days and just keep getting the "we're too busy" message.
I filed on February 24th and just got my deposit date today too! Must be processing a batch from late February right now. For anyone still waiting - hang in there!
I appreciate your update on the Credit Karma deposit timing. Per IRS Publication 2043, direct deposits to prepaid cards and integrated financial platforms are processed through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) system using the same protocols as bank deposits. The perceived speed difference is often due to the receiving institution's posting policies rather than IRS processing differences. Thank you for sharing your experience.

I was in almost the exact same boat as you - filed Jan 28th, accepted same day, then crickets for weeks! My transcript did exactly what yours did - showed exemption code and filing status but nothing else. I was ready to pull my hair out until exactly 31 days after filing when everything suddenly updated at once. It was like the IRS flipped a switch and my refund was in my account 5 days later. The waiting is like watching paint dry, but when it moves, it moves fast!

FYI for anyone dealing w/ this situation: The transcript codes actually tell you a lot more than WMR. When you see exemption code 00 + filing status but nothing else, it means your return has passed initial validation and is in the processing queue. It's in the system but hasn't been fully processed yet. Usually takes another 7-14 days from this point to get your refund date. The IRS is running about 21-30 days total processing time for uncomplicated returns this year according to what I've seen across multiple forums. Hang in there!
