I'm on day 45 of waiting and getting desperate to talk to someone at the IRS. Their phone lines are impossible - I tried calling 13 times yesterday and couldn't get through. A friend recommended Claimyr.com (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) and I got connected to an agent in about 15 minutes. They explained my return was flagged for a simple verification that's now resolved. Refund should be deposited next week!
That's good to know! I'll remember that service if I ever get stuck in the future. Glad you finally got some answers!
I used this last year when my refund was delayed for 3 months. Worth every penny to not spend hours on hold!
9 days is definitely on the faster end, but I've seen it happen, especially for simple returns filed electronically with direct deposit. The IRS actually improved their systems a lot in the last couple years. If you filed early in the day on March 1st, you probably hit the perfect window to get processed quickly before the big rush of mid-March filers.
After 6 weeks of blank transcripts post-verification, I finally got through to someone at the IRS. They told me directly that there's a massive backlog in the verification resolution department. My return was just sitting there waiting for someone to push a button. Two days after that call my transcript populated and I got my refund the following week. Don't just wait - be proactive and call them.
I filed on January 23rd, verified on February 8th, and my transcript finally updated on March 2nd. Received my refund on March 5th. The waiting is frustrating but there's definitely a pattern. The IRS seems to be processing verified returns in batches every 7-10 days. Based on your timeline, I'd expect your transcript to update this Friday (March 8th) or next Friday (March 15th) during their overnight processing.
Oh my goodness, I was EXACTLY where you are now!! Filed January 25th, cycle code 0505, PATH message for weeks, and I was checking WMR and transcripts literally every day! I was so stressed because I needed that money for car repairs! I finally got my refund last week after almost 11 weeks of waiting. The weekly cycles are real - mine updated on a Thursday night and the money was in my account the following Wednesday. Hang in there!!! šš
Just to clarify some confusion I'm seeing in other comments: Cycle code 0505 means your account is on a weekly processing cycle (05) that updates on Thursdays, and the 05 at the end indicates the year (2025 for 2024 tax returns). In my experience working with tax clients, PATH Act returns (with EITC/ACTC) filed in January typically complete processing by mid-March, but this year we're seeing longer delays across the board. The lack of an 846 code simply means your refund hasn't been scheduled yet - it doesn't necessarily indicate a problem.
OMG this happened to me TOO! š« I was freaking out because I need my refund ASAP for some medical bills! After trying for DAYS with no luck, I used Claimyr to actually get through to an IRS agent (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) instead of waiting on hold forever. The agent confirmed it was just a system issue on their end and my return was still processing normally. Such a relief! They even gave me an estimated date when my refund would arrive. Worth every penny for the peace of mind!
tbh this happens every yr during peak season. IRS systems r ancient and can't handle the traffic. nbd usually - just wait a few days and try again. ppl freak out but 99% of the time ur return is still processing fine even if u can't see the status. WMR is just a frontend interface that sometimes disconnects from the main database. chill and check again tmrw.

The SBGT issues happen every year around peak filing time. Don't waste hours trying to log in. Download your tax docs directly from your brokerage websites. Enter the info manually. Takes 30 minutes max. Saves hours of frustration. Been doing this for 5 years now. Never had a problem.

Are you using the desktop version or the online version of TurboTax? I've noticed the desktop version seems to handle the SBGT connection more reliably. Also, have you tried accessing it during non-peak hours?
