I had almost the exact same timeline as you - filed January 29th, verified February 16th, and heard absolutely nothing for weeks. I was getting super anxious because I needed the money for my kid's braces. I finally broke down and called the IRS after 6 weeks of waiting. Turns out there was a tiny discrepancy between my W-2 and what my employer reported that triggered a manual review. The agent fixed it while I was on the phone, and I got my refund 8 days later.
Did they explain what specifically triggered the review? Was it an income amount or something else?
Just a word of caution based on what happened to me last year. If you do call and they say they'll "fix it right away" or "release the refund," don't count on immediate results. The agent told me my refund would process within 48 hours, but it still took another 3 weeks. Their internal systems don't move as quickly as they sometimes suggest.
Anyone know if they'll let u verify if it's been less than 14 days? I'm only at day 10 but rly need my refund ASAP and haven't gotten any letter yet. TIA!
I called exactly 15 days after being told to expect a verification letter. The agent said they can verify by phone after 14 days have passed. I had my 2022 and 2023 tax returns in front of me. They asked about my filing status, exact AGI amounts, current and previous addresses, and details about my mortgage and auto loan. The whole verification took 20 minutes. My refund was approved 6 days later. Don't wait longer than 14 days - call them back.
If you filed on March 1st and your transcript just updated on April 2nd, that's actually right on schedule for 1099 filers this year. Last year I filed on February 15th, 2023 and my transcript updated on March 18th, 2023, with deposit hitting on March 22nd, 2023. The IRS is actually processing 1099 returns about 2-3 days faster this year compared to last. I'd suggest checking your bank account on April 5th or April 8th as those are likely deposit dates based on current patterns.
Do you know if having Schedule C income affects the verification timeline differently than having just 1099-NEC forms? My return includes both self-employment income and some contract work, and I'm wondering if that might extend the processing time even further?
I noticed something interesting when I checked the IRS refund statistics page yesterday. They've processed about 18% more returns compared to this time last year, but they're also holding more returns for manual review. For what it's worth, I just got access to my transcript this morning after weeks of N/A status, and I'm also a 1099 contractor. Maybe we're in the same batch.
Just got my DDD today actually! Verified on Feb 28th and transcript updated this morning with 846 code for March 13th deposit. I was sort of losing hope since it had been almost two weeks with no movement. Maybe check your transcript again? Sometimes they update overnight and it might have changed since you last checked.
From what I've seen across multiple tax seasons, the IRS tends to prioritize returns in batches based on filing method, credits claimed, and verification status. Back in 2022, I waited 3 weeks after verification before seeing any movement. Last year was faster - only 9 days. This year I verified on Feb 15th and got my DDD on March 2nd. The community wisdom seems to be that post-verification waits are getting shorter as the season progresses, so you might see movement very soon.

I waited patiently after verifying online and got my DDD exactly 11 days later! According to Internal Revenue Manual 21.5.6, verification processing should be completed within 14 days of receipt. I'm concerned that many taxpayers don't realize verification resets your 21-day processing timeline. The good news is that Texas returns typically process faster than the national average once verification is complete.

My timeline was almost identical to yours. Form sent on 02/15/2025, received 02/27/2025, verified online 02/28/2025. I'm also in Texas (Houston area). My transcript updated exactly 8 days after verification with a 570 code, then 3 days later changed to 571 with an 846 DDD for the following Wednesday. So it was precisely 11 days from verification to DDD, with the money hitting my account 2 days after the DDD date.
