For anyone confused about cycle codes and what they mean: ⢠0505 = weekly processing cycle (updates Thursday night/Friday morning) ⢠0705 = daily processing cycle (can update any day) ⢠The first two digits (05 or 07) indicate weekly vs daily ⢠Last two digits (05) indicate the year (2025) PATH Act returns have mandatory hold periods. Even with a 846 code, WMR might not update immediately. Don't panic if they're out of sync!
I was literally in the same boat last week! š My WMR is STILL showing the PATH message even though the money hit my account 5 days ago. It's like the left hand doesn't know what the right is doing over at the IRS. I was starting to think my account was glitched or something. Glad to hear I'm not the only one whose WMR is living in the past.
I was in your exact position last year! Had a DDD of 2/24, didn't see anything until 2/28. What worked for me was setting up alerts with my bank for any deposits over $100. That way I wasn't constantly checking my account and stressing myself out. Ended up using the delay time to price-compare some medical providers since I also needed the refund for healthcare costs. Found a place that was $200 cheaper than where I was planning to go!
I track my refunds meticulously every year using the Transaction Code timeline. After your DDD (TC 846) appears on your transcript, the Treasury Financial Management Service (FMS) initiates the ACH transfer to your bank's routing number. For my February 19th DDD this year, the funds weren't available until February 22nd. The Federal Reserve's Automated Clearing House operates on business days only, which explains the Monday likelihood. For medical expenses, you might want to contact the provider's billing department while waiting - many offer temporary holds when you can show proof of incoming funds.
What tax software did you use to file? I'm trying to figure out if certain preparation services have faster SBTPG processing than others. Did you have any special credits or deductions on your return that might have triggered additional verification?
YESSS!!! š I've been STRESSING about this exact same thing! My SBTPG has been funded since TUESDAY and I've been checking literally every hour! Everyone I know got their money already and I was starting to panic that something went wrong with my divorce situation too! This gives me hope mine will update soon! Sending good vibes that your money hits your account ASAP! š°š°š°
Banking systems are like those old plumbing systems - the water is in the pipes but hasn't reached your faucet yet! Your money is definitely on its way, just stuck in the weekend banking traffic jam. I'd suggest calling Netspend's customer service line directly. Sometimes they can manually release pending deposits if you explain your situation. I've had them do this before when I needed funds urgently. Worth a shot rather than waiting until Monday, especially with your visa situation.
I had a similar experience with Netspend last year. My timeline was: ⢠Saw "funded" status on Friday afternoon ⢠Called customer service that evening ⢠Representative confirmed it was in their system ⢠Funds were available Saturday morning at 8am Definitely worth calling them directly!
Haha, I love the plumbing analogy! So true! I was shocked when I learned banks actually don't process most transactions in real-time. My refund showed as "pending" for THREE DAYS with Netspend last year even though the IRS had already sent it. Felt like I was waiting for a check to arrive via horse and buggy in 2024! šš¬
Have you tried checking your Netspend account through their website instead of the app? Sometimes the website updates before the app does. I had a similar situation last month where my tax refund showed as funded on Friday but with a previous date. I kept checking obsessively and it actually appeared Saturday morning around 10am! Did you set up text alerts with Netspend? That's how I knew mine had arrived before I even checked the app. Fingers crossed you get yours before Monday!

There are actually some important nuances to understand about how the IRS payment system works with online banks like Chime. The Treasury Financial Management Service (FMS) typically initiates payments on the scheduled date, but there's often a 24-72 hour processing window, particularly when the deposit date falls on a Friday. Additionally, Chime specifically has been known to occasionally hold tax refunds for additional verification, especially for first-time direct deposits to their accounts. This is likely what you're experiencing, and in approximately 95% of cases, the deposit appears by the next business day after the weekend. If you don't see it by Tuesday morning, that would be the appropriate time to contact both Chime and potentially the IRS.

Same boat here w/ Chime. DD date 3/29, still nothing. Called IRS this AM & they said it was sent but could take 5 biz days to show up. Chime says they post $ as soon as they get it but nothing on their end yet. Frustrating AF but sounds like we just gotta wait till Tues/Wed. Wouldn't worry unless it's still MIA by Thurs tbh.

ā¢I went through this last year and was panicking too! Mine finally showed up Tuesday morning at like 2am. Chime does usually post early but tax refunds sometimes take the full processing time for some reason. Just keep an eye on your notifications!
