Word of caution - if you filed with TT and chose fees taken out of refund, it might take a few extra days to hit your account bc it goes through their bank first
Congrats on the 846! That's definitely your Direct Deposit Date. Just keep in mind that 2/24 falls on a Monday, so depending on your bank it could show up as early as Friday 2/21 or over the weekend. Some banks release funds early when the deposit date falls on a weekday. Either way, you're in the home stretch! š
I heard they're super backed up because of the pandemic still. My cousin's neighbor's dog's previous owner works for the IRS and said they're like 2 years behind on everything.

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Filed early February, did the identity verification through ID.me about 3 weeks ago, and my transcript still shows no updates. It's like my return just disappeared into the void. One thing I've been doing is checking the "Where's My Refund" tool every Friday (that's when they typically update), but it's been stuck on "Your return is being processed" forever. Really hoping someone here has some insight because calling the IRS feels impossible these days. @Annabel have you tried checking if there are any notices in your online account? Sometimes they send digital notices that don't show up in the mail right away.
What time of day did you call? I've been trying for weeks but always get the "due to high call volume" message and then it hangs up on me š”
This is exactly what happened to me! Filed on February 28th and had absolutely nothing on my transcript for 7 weeks. I was starting to panic thinking my return was lost in the system. Finally called using the phone tree someone posted here (the 1-2-1-3-2 sequence) and got through after about 45 minutes on hold. The agent immediately said "Oh, I see you need identity verification" - like it was obvious to her but there was NO indication of this anywhere on my end. No letter, no codes on transcript, nothing. She verified me right there on the phone asking basic questions about my filing history and personal info. My transcript updated with processing codes within 2 hours and I got my DDD the next day! If you're past the 21-day mark with zero movement, definitely call and specifically ask about identity verification requirements. Don't let them just tell you to "keep waiting" - push for answers about what's actually holding up your return.
Called them yesterday and sat on hold for 2hrs just to be told to 'be patient' smh

I went through the exact same thing last year! The IRS letter never showed up, and I was panicking about not being able to file my taxes. Here's what worked for me: I called the IRS early in the morning (like 7:30 AM) and got through pretty quickly. They couldn't give me the verification code over the phone, but they were able to verify my identity using other methods - they asked me questions about my previous tax returns, addresses, and some financial info. They then sent a new letter to my current address, which arrived within 10 business days. Make sure you have your Social Security card, driver's license, and last year's tax return handy when you call. Also, double-check that they have your correct mailing address! Good luck - you got this! šŖ
