ANOTHER OPTION: go to ur nearest EDD office in person!!! I forgot to mention this in my first reply but my cousin did this after dealing with the same broken link garbage. She said there was a line but she got her claim reopened same day. Just bring ID and any paperwork you have about your previous claim.
Final update for anyone who finds this thread later: I DID get my claim reopened! Ended up using the Claimyr service, got connected to a specialist in about 25 minutes. The EDD rep confirmed they're having major issues with the reopening link right now and manually reopened my claim over the phone. She said I should see the option to certify within 48 hours. What a relief! Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions.
why dont u just stick it out til they fire u? then u get unemployment for sure. quitting is always risky
To clarify some misinformation in this thread: a missing CAN number is a common issue that does NOT require creating a new claim. EDD has established protocols for this specific situation. Your options in priority order: 1. Call the Identity Verification line at 1-866-401-2849 rather than the main number. This specialized line often has shorter wait times and can assist with CAN issues. 2. Visit an America's Job Center of California (AJCC) location in person - no appointment necessary for document verification assistance. 3. Submit a written request for your CAN by mail including photocopies of your ID, Social Security card, and claim documents to the address on your award letter. Note that your benefits will not be interrupted while resolving this access issue as long as you continue certifying by phone (EDD Tele-Cert) at 1-866-333-4606 until you regain online access.
Just wanted to update - I used Claimyr this morning and got through to EDD in about 15 minutes. The rep verified my identity and gave me my CAN number over the phone! I was able to reset my password and access my account right away. Such a relief after weeks of stress. They also said I can request to have a new CAN letter mailed to me as a backup.
THANK YOU for sharing this update! I'm going to try Claimyr right now. So glad to hear you got it resolved quickly!

REMEMBER they calculate by the WEEK so if ur new job pays alot more than ur weekly benefit amount u might not get anything for that partial week. its all about how much u earn in a WEEK not by day!!

•This isn't entirely accurate. EDD does calculate benefits on a weekly basis, but they have a formula for partial benefits. You can earn up to $99 without any reduction in your weekly benefit amount. After that, for every dollar you earn over $99, your weekly benefit is reduced by a dollar. So you can still receive partial benefits even if you work part of a week, as long as your earnings don't exceed your weekly benefit amount plus $99.

When I ended my claim after getting a job, I made SURE to call EDD and confirm everything was processed correctly. It's worth the time because they make so many mistakes. One time they paid me twice for the same week and then sent me an overpayment notice six months later! The system is SO broken.

•Yikes, that's concerning. Maybe I should try to call them after certifying just to make sure everything processes correctly. I really don't want to deal with overpayment notices months down the road.
